CHAPTER 23

3062 Words

CHAPTER 23 The fox left a very distinct trail that was easy for Hampton to follow as he led the pack of horses, one mule and six riders, across the wooded trails. Carly felt comfortable in the saddle, passing landmarks forever etched in her young mind. Monroe, her brave pony, held his sparkling white tail straight out as he proudly galloped along the trail. The miles swept under his paws as Hampton led them over streams, past meadows, and through decaying forests. His stride was even and true, neither slowing down nor speeding up. Over the police radios, the group learned the news of Strange Willie’s capture. Carly pushed it out of her mind, knowing her priority was to find her friend and deal with the lies about Strange Willie later. She knew there was a logical explanation.
