Getting to know each other.

His embrace feels so good…I catch myself enjoying it for a minute. f**k no. I lightly push him away, my body starts involuntarily to shake, shooting pains attack my muscles and I fold in pain. My head is throbbing.

"Sofia...Sofia…"

He is calling my name…I can't open my mouth…I don't want to voice my agony...just keep it in…hold on Sofia, f**k. He is trying to help me, I lift my hand refusing. I don't want him to touch me...

" Don't touch me!"

I say, he looks sad and hurt. I don't understand why? He doesn't know me!

" Resisting our mate's bond causes you this pain… let me help you."

He pleads with me, the pain is getting too much….Finally after what felt like hours I give in and nod in agreement and hold out my hand he takes it just holding it.

"Breath just breath."

He says in a soothing voice, I complied, and the pain began to subside, his scent filling me up, slowly returning to normal. This was embarrassing. I clear my throat and try to act as normal as I can.

"It's late, Alpha. I have been working all day and running most of the night. I am hungry and need some rest... I imagine you too."

I say, looking at the wall clock, avoiding looking at him.

"Just call me Philip mate, and yes, me the same."

He replied.

" I'll make us something to eat, and then we can get some sleep."

He nodded in agreement, I went behind the kitchen counter and started preparing a couple of sandwiches. I offered him some water. He sat opposite me at one of the stools on the other side of the counter. He looked thoughtful and tired. He drank some water. I broke the silence while handing him a plate with the sandwich I prepared.

" Why were you on Black forest territory?"

He looked up at me with his brown eyes, I couldn't read his expression. His face is completely neutral.

" We were chasing rogue. There have been many attacks across the neighbouring packs lately. We have been teaming up with you guys, I crossed the border in pursuit of three rogues when I caught your scent and separated from my team to come find you…"

I nodded, and he continued.

" The question is why the seclusive adopted daughter of Alpha Dave Grey is running around alone in the forest? Your father doesn't tell you of the dangers?"

So he figured out who I am, I hadn't mentioned my connection to Dave intentionally. I knew that wolves from neighbouring packs gossiped about me, and there were all sorts of rumours going around. My favourite, the fierce warrior that single handedly killed 15 rogues that killed her mate and went mad.

A laugh escaped my mouth.

" I am not afraid of rogues, I am a fully trained warrior, a damn good one."

I replied and then took a big bite of my sandwich.

"Then why aren't you with Dave's team?"

I sigh and take another bite of my sandwich, taking my time to answer.

" I'm sure you know all that."

" I've heard gossip, but that is just gossip. I'd rather you tell me."

At that moment, I felt comfortable and didn't mind opening up to him about my past. We looked each other in the eyes, I could feel the sparks but I suppressed the feeling causing me a small tremor and pain, then I took a deep breath to center myself thinking carefully about my next answer and after a few quiet moments I replied.

" I quit when I was 17, I was the best! The violence got a bit too much for me, and I decided to pursue a normal life, so I started working in one of the pack businesses while I studied. I started saving, working hard, I got promoted, I bought this house which I am slowly restoring. I am happy spending time with my brothers and friends."

"What about men?"

He asked with a curious expression, raising his eyebrow. I am not gonna lie to him.

"There has been the occasional need for companionship."

I replied. A hurt look appeared on his face. I snapped at him.

"You want to tell me that there haven't been any women in your past or even now?"

He let a low growl escape.

" Yes, there have been."

He spat out with a bit of anger, his eyes throwing daggers at me. I hate to admit it, but his reply hurt me, damn mate bond.

" Doesn't matter MATE, no-one will make you come like me."

He promised. I squinted my eyes at him, and he smiled smugly. We had both finished eating by now, and even though his last arrogant comment annoyed me, I was too tired and decided to let it go.

" Enough for today. It's nearly 3."

I said, looking at the wall clock.

" I will show you to the guest room."

He nodded and quietly followed me up the stairs.

" The bathroom is through that door. "

I said, pointing at the first door to the left.

" You will find toothpaste, toothbrush towels, and the necessary things in the wardrobe behind the sink."

" You can sleep in this room."

And pointed to the room on the right-hand side.

" Where are you sleeping?" He asked.

I pointed to the door next to his.

" Let me know if you need anything else."

Our eyes locked, and we both had the same intense, lustful look. My desire for him was getting stronger. I immediately fought the urge, and uncontrollable trembling took over my body again. Shooting pains attacking my core blurring my vision. I fell to the floor, shaking and hurting, nearly passing out from the pain. He lifted me up, pressing me against his chest so I could breathe in his scent and find relief. I instinctively wrapped my arms around his neck. He carried me to my room, lowered me on my bed, my arms remained around his neck for just a moment his face close to mine we looked each other in the eyes then I let go, he tucked me in and held my hand until I took control of my body again, then he planted a soft kiss on my forehead.

" Goodnight Sofia"

" Goodnight... Alpha."

I replied, offering him a small smile. Finally, the exhaustion kicked in, and I fell asleep.
