I woke up the next morning, it felt like I was coming out of a deep hibernation. I groaned looking around. I am disoriented and it takes me a few moments to remember where I am. I look down, his hand wrapped around my waist over the covers holding me tight, his sweet musty scent soothing the light headache that is still clouding my mind. I turn my head to look at his face, he is awake laying on his side looking at me, we are face to face really close to each other.
"How are you feeling?"
"I've been better! I am sorry I don't know why this happened to me…"
"You should go back, I hate to see you unwell. Things are intense with my father injured and everything that's happening. I can't spend time with you."
I jumped up in a sitting position, he followed suit.
"I am sorry Philip, I am so selfish I didn't even ask how your father is. How is he?"
"He was seriously injured, nearly lost his life. Thankfully Alpha Christian from Small Cliff intervened and saved him. He is recuperating well and he will soon be back to normal."
"I am glad he's going to be fine."
"I'll arrange a couple of warriors to escort you back."
My heart is pounding, my breathing is fast and shallow. He is calm, observing my reaction. Dammit I can't let him send me back.
"I want to stay, I am off from work..."
He cut me off.
"Why what's the point? I think it's best for both of us if you return to your home."
This goddess wrenching feeling that if I leave, I will never see him again is eating me up. The image of his wolf being torn apart is enough to make my wolf mad. I can't let him send me back. f**k what do I do?
"Damit Philip, I ran after you and I am in your bed. Do you think I came all this way just to be sent back?"
He looks surprised at my outburst.
"Don't push me more, just let me stay and support you."
I look intensely into his eyes, putting my hand on his shoulder. He takes a deep breath, I see a hint of satisfaction in his eyes even though he is very serious.
"Fine!"
His reply relieved me.
"So tell me what is really going on?"
I questioned, he looks at me with a calm expression but I could tell he is not telling me everything.
"What do you mean?"
He played the ignorant.
"I mean all these Alphas in your pack house. The situation is more serious than you are telling me."
"You are right, these attacks are very well organized and there is a big number of rogues working together which is unusual. They are jumping through our territories. It's like they are looking for something or someone. Unfortunately we haven't been able to locate their hiding place."
"I didn't know it was that serious."
"So far they have been targeting young she-wolves, abducting them and…"
"And?"
"We have been recovering their bodies…One from my pack, two from Small cliff and one from Whitepine."
His expression changed to sadness whereas I started boiling with anger.
"Mothef*****s…"
I spat out.
"I was excited to finally find you but really upset you were alone in the forest."
"I can handle myself."
He narrowed his eyes disapprovingly.
"My father's team managed to capture their leader in yesterday's raid, that is how my father nearly lost his life."
"That gives you a small advantage. Hopefully you will get information out of him."
He nodded in agreement.
"I am sorry Sofia I'll be gone all day, we are planning our next move."
"I understand."
I am out of bed, looking down I see my legs bare. I am wearing an oversized t-shirt and I assume his boxers.
" You were soaking wet from the fever, I changed your clothes.
I am embarrassed at his revelation, s**t I keep embarrassing myself in front of him. I bit my lips and my cheeks flushed red. He came close and wrapped his arms around me.
" I love looking after my beautiful mate."
He kissed my neck and quickly let go and went to the bathroom to get ready for the long day ahead of him.

After Philip left, I had a cold shower to ease my fever. When I finished I went to the walk-in closet, luckily Luna Sheila had provided me with a gym outfit among other things. I got dressed and when I came out Sheila and a maid were in the room waiting for me.
"Good morning Sofia, how are you feeling today?"
"Better...it's just this headache it feels like clouding my connection to my pack."
"In some cases temporary complete disconnection can occur. You should be back to normal in one or two days. I already informed your Alpha of your condition."
"You didn't have to…"
She cut me off abruptly.
"I am obligated, you are our guest, we are responsible for you, your adoptive father needs to know you are well taken care of."
I nod in understanding.
"Now let me examine you…."
She took my temperature, checked my blood pressure and heart rate.
"...everything looks good, your fever has gone down. After you have your breakfast, take this pill for the fever and I'll check on you this afternoon."
"Luna, I would like to work out."
"Call me Sheila please, I wouldn't recommend it."
"Sheila...emm, my fever isn't that high. Blowing off some steam will make me feel better."
"Fine, but take it easy. There's a gym on the second floor."
"Thank you and I will."
