Metztli stood at the door to Sam’s apartment. He looked at the wooden entrance and thought back to his talk with Dee. He was surprised to learn so much about Sam just from meeting her friend. Not that Dee spilled all of Sam’s secrets, but her stories were filled with moments where Sam reacted, witnessed or collaborated with Dee. No longer was Sam the shivering girl attempting to talk to him at the reception hall or the stern wall he was met with at the school house. Instead, she became a vivacious force of life. Someone that had burned with an inner fire that was not shared with just anyone. She only shared that part of herself with someone she trusted and cared for deeply.  He wondered what a person would need to do for Sam to welcome them in.
