Hi, I'm Joanna. Im a teenager living in the state of New Jersey. I am 17 years old with brown hair, brown eyes, a slender body, and about 5'5. Life as a teenager can be pretty fun but hard at times especially where I live. Being a pretty or "descent" looking girl you got to be careful. I live in the rough city of Newark, NJ. One of New Jerseys biggest cities and where lots of things happen such as kidnapping, prostitution and etc. But there are also good things such as carnivals and professional games such as the New Jersey Devils (hockey). But one day my life took a wrong turn and I will never forget this day of horror, where I was stripped of my dignity and respect. I will never forget this day. Will I get over this day or will it hunt me for the rest of my life?
Monday
I just got out of school and it is 3:00pm in two more hours I will have to head to karate practice. I practice six days a week and two different styles. As I finish my homework I get my gi (karate suit) and karate bag ready to head out the door. People always want to learn karate just by watching but it is more than that it takes discipline, strength, confidence, and patience. You got to learn how to be kicked, take and give punishments and more.
Two hours later
Karate practice is over and my grandpa heads to one of Roselle's park. As we arrive there he is talking to one of his good friends. As me and my sister and brother are walking around I realize one of his trainers are watching me constantly. I try to keep looking forward but it is hard when you know that a person is watching you. He look like he is between 24-28 years old, Hispanic, black hair, tattoos on his arms and around 5'12 or 6 foot the most. While he is punching the bag he is constantly watching me. I know he is watching me which makes me uncomfortable so I ask my grandfather for the keys and get in the car. As I am in the car I wonder if I should tell my grandfather or just leave it alone. Maybe I am paranoid and he wasn't staring at me or maybe he was looking at someone else.
