Chapter 22

Seven years later

I can't believe how fast time flew by. I am now 24-years olds and and Brandon is 26-years old and we don't have to ever worry about Sergio. He is locked away in jail for life and I have gotten over that horrific moment of my life. Me and Brandon have moved out of his parents house and got our own condo in Trenton and are living a great life. We both turned out to be very successful after college. I became a veterinarian and started my own business and Brandon became a pediatrician. Today is our 7 year anniversary of us being together.

As I open the bedroom door, I see a path of roses leading towards the kitchen. I follow the path of roses and see Brandon holding a rose in his hand grinning.

Brandon: Good morning, my love

Me: Good morning handsome

Brandon: Did you sleep well?

Me: Yes, I did

Brandon: You ready for some breakfast?

Me: You really went all out this year and decided to cook breakfast as well. How did I get so lucky with you?

Brandon: That's the same question I could ask myself.

Brandon guides me towards the table and as I get seated, I see he has made my favorite. French toast sticks with bacon and eggs with orange juice.

Me: Ohh babe this is beautiful

Brandon: Only for you

We eat our breakfast and talk about our plans for today as we finish up I decide to clean up and wash the dishes. As I turn around, Brandon has a gift in his hand.

Me: Oh my gosh, what is this?

Brandon: Open it and see.

As I open the box, I see it is a silver locket with diamonds encrusted in it. As I open it I see a picture of my mother and me. I begin to cry.

Brandon: Do you like it?

Me: Yes I love it. It is beautiful. My mom may no longer be with me on earth but at least I can wear her around my neck.

I walk over to Brandon and give him a long lingering kiss but as I begin to walk away, he grabs me and kisses me again.

Me: Okay now time for your gift.

Brandon: I told you, you didn't have to get me one

Me: And I told you I was still going to get you one

I run towards our bedroom and walk back out with a gold and black box. Brandon looks at me in suspicion.

Brandon: What is it?

Me: Open it.

Brandon opens the box and is in complete utter shock.

Brandon: I can't believe you brought me a Rolex. Babe, how much did you spend?

Me: Don't worry about it. Do you like it?

Brandon: Yes it is a beautiful watch.

But how much did you spend?

I ignore him and walk towards the living room and put on lifetime. Brandon joins me on the couch and watches the movie with me

Three hours later

Brandon: Babe, what time is it?

Me: 5:30, why?

Brandon: Just get dress and throw on something elegant.

Me: Why? Brandon what do you have planned and where are you going?

Brandon: Don't worry about it. Just get dressed. I promise you will love it.

We both head towards our room and get dressed. I put a black and gold cocktail dress on with black heels, and my diamond rings. I wine curl my hair and head out of the bathroom. As I enter the bedroom I see Brandon in a button down shirt, dress pants and black dress up shoes with his Rolex on. I walk towards Brandon with a smile.

Brandon: Aren't you dressed well this evening.

Me: You look handsome

Brandon grabs me by the waist and kisses me. He stops and look at me for a second. Then kisses me again.

Brandon: Are you ready?

Me: Yes

We head out the door to and onto the elevator. From there we get into the tesla and Brandon drives off. While we are in the car we listen to music and talk about our special day. As I look out the window I see we arrive at a elegant restaurant. A man waiting outside opens my car door and Brandon hands him the keys as we walk towards the door of the restaurant. When we enter I am so amazed by the decor and the design of the place. It was so beautiful. As we get seated Brandon looks at me.

Brandon: Do you like it?

Me: I love it, this is beautiful Brandon. You really went out this year for our anniversary.

Brandon: I know and you deserve it.

Me: Thank you for being faithful all these years and sticking by my side. I am blessed with an amazing man.

Brandon: And I am blessed with an amazing woman. You are there when I need you and through my hard times and I am thankful for that.

Soon enough our waiter comes and we order our food. I order a chicken pasta with red wine and Brandon order a lobster tail with steak and broccoli and a glass of champagne. We eat, talk, and enjoy our date night. Then Brandon stands up and clinks his glass.

Brandon: May I have everyone's attention?

Me: Babe what are you doing sit down? Are you drunk?

Everyone turns there attention towards our table to look at Brandon.

Brandon: Babe I'm fine. Good evening everyone. This is a very special day. This beautiful lady and I have been together for seven years. We started dating when she was 17 and a half and I was 19 This woman have been with me through hard times and easy times and I love her for that.

Everyone in the restaurant began to aww us as Brandon continues to talk. Then he turns his direction towards me.

Brandon: Joanna I am blessed to have a woman like you. You have been faithful and always by my side. You have been my biggest support system in my life besides my mother (the whole restaurant laughs). And I love you for that and for just being you.

Me: I love you too

Brandon: I really love you Joanna and hope there will continue to be many more days with us together

As Brandon says this he puts his glass down walks towards me, pulls a box out of his pocket and drops on one knee.

Brandon: Joanna Marie Davis will you make me the happiest man on earth and marry me?

I look at Brandon through teary eyes in shock of what's going on.

Me: Yes Brandon, yes

Brandon slips the ring on my finger and stands up and kiss me. Everyone in the restaurant claps and congratulate us as we sit back down in our seats.

Me: Oh my gosh Brandon this is beautiful. How long have you had this planned?

Brandon: I'm glad you like your ring and I have been planning this since our second anniversary. You are the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with.

Me: Te amo, mi amor

Brandon: Te amo, mi hermosa

I lean forward and give Brandon a kiss. When I look to my right I see Melody, Eddy, Jose, and Maria walking towards us. Melody comes up to me and hugs me.

Me: You guys were here all this time?

Melody: Yes it was beautiful and I got it all on camera. I finally get to have a sister

Maria: And I finally get a second daughter and grand babies.

We all laugh at Maria comment

Jose: My son you did well. You have a beautiful and great woman now please keep her. She is a good one.

Brandon: I will papà

Eddy: Congratulations, to you both. I brought you guys a little gift. Open it.

Me and Brandon: Thank you

As we open it we begin to smile. It is the picture we took at my graduation with all of us.

Me: I love this. This is going in the living room on the table.

Maria: Well we are happy we were here to see this moment. We are going to head out and let you too enjoy your day. Te amo, Nos vemos

We say good- bye with hugs and kisses and watch as they leave.
