Chapter 32A few minutes before four o’clock Danny’s cell phone rang. He paused on his way into yet another editorial meeting and looked at the caller ID. Excellent! Evan must be near. “Hi. Are you done for the day?” “Yeah. Can you leave work yet? I’m not far from your office.” Evan’s voice sounded shaky. A twinge of apprehension stung Danny. “Sure. I’ll wait for you out front. If you like, we could stop for a drink on the way home.” “Uh, yeah. I could use one. Something happened today…” Evan sighed. “Look, I’m nearly there—I’ll explain when I see you.” Evan disconnected the call. Danny stood staring at the phone in his hand. This sounded bad.
