Talon Jones, the undisputed King of the Alphas donned his best suite for the occasion. While he had many duties and expectations, one of his most important jobs was to keep the peace amongst the packs. This was a feat usually more difficult to accomplish in packs that developed more than one leader. It didn't happen often but occasionally a pack would pop up with a second Alpha. Typically, this only happened in instances of twins, and even then it was rare as twins often assumed Alpha-Beta relationships, resulting in some of the best around. It had come to his attention that several packs had admitted to having more than one Alpha throughout the years and one of his many obligations was to help guide pack leaders into prominent positions. Most especially positions that aided his own agenda, while also preventing the inevitable uprising of one or the other and the division of the pack that might occur. But this trip was a little different. Shadow Pack was claiming that they not only had two Alphas at last year's naming ceremony but that one was female.
Talon was certainly not objectable to a female alpha. In fact, years ago, a weary fortune-teller had told him he would marry a female alpha one day. He seriously wasn't holding his breath. A female Alpha hadn't been born in centuries. But he had to admit he was certainly curious. Cautiously curious anyway. He had heard these stories before and they almost always involve some form of trickery or misrepresentation. In other words, they had always been lies. He was not expecting this to be any different. While the Shadow Pack had a decent reputation, they were not necessarily the strongest pack around and multiple Alphas was typically a sign of strength.
Talon fixed his tie in the mirror of the Mercedes-Benz and thanked his Beta Carter for the ride before exiting the vehicle. He glanced up at the large stone house that stood before him. There was a half circle driveway that lead to the front door and a fountain in the center - with a statue of 2 standing wolves, naturally. A slew of omegas greeted him at the door offering to take his coat. He smiled politely and declined. Being in the house he was suddenly struck with a lovely smell, one that was obviously female. He shook it off, it had been quite sometime since he had indulged himself with a female companion. He promised himself he would remedy that soon.
“Good morning your highness!” Came an oddly sweet voice from behind the left side of the grand staircases that stood before him. “We are so pleased you could join us today.”
He took the hand of the woman who was clearly the Luna and offered it a kiss. “Thank you. You must be the Luna.” He said with a smile, careful not to show his teeth.
The woman before him flushed. “Yes, you can call me Felisha, your highness.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you Felisha.” He stated as his eyes connected with Alpha John who was coming down the long narrow hallway. The two greeted each other as was customary between Alphas with a long armed handshake and a pat on the back. The two smiled at each other, but as was also customary between two Alphas they were sizing each other up.
“How was your trip Talon?” John greeted him. It was strange hearing his first name. It wasn’t something he heard often. Only close friends and family afforded him this. Alpha John was a long time friend of his family. Though it had been years since he’d seen the man he obviously still felt comfortable enough to use his name casually. Talon smiled, not sure if he was comfortable with the man’s casualness, but decided to let it go.”
“It was fine, John.” He stated back calmly intentionally using his first name as well. “We have much to discuss.”
John cut him off. “Great, is there anything I can get you? A drink, lunch? We can get to the formalities but first lets catch up as friends.”
Talon furrowed his brow. He didn’t much like the forward nature of his new old friend John. But he smiled cordially. This was not the time or the place to make a spectical.
“Excellent!” John exclaimed as he lead Talon down the hall.
Their afternoon had been pleasant enough. Lunch featured a wonderful spread that made it obvious Alpha John had spared no expense. Talon only wondered exactly what he was being buttered up for. Following lunch John took him on a lengthy tour of the house. Some parts of the house had strong references of that lovely smell from earlier, while others did not. Which furthered his annoyance in the moment causing him to wonder why he had gone so long without a female partner. He would really have to rectify that this evening. He thought to himself. Yes, he decided he would find which ever Omega smelled this sweetly and he would quite enjoy it.
They came across large white framed glass doors that opened out onto a balcony. The two walked out. Talon looked over the grounds. While John’s house was quite large the surrounding village was somewhat humble. Below he could see all the inner workings of a good pack. Kids were playing, adults were working on their assigned tasks and in the distance the warriors were practicing their combat skills.
Oddly, one warrior stood out even from this distance. She had platinum blond hair pulled back into a traditional long mowhawk braid. She was dressed head to toe in what appears to be black leather and she seemed to be besting most of the warriors she’d battled despite a clear height and size disadvantage. He watched as she put her sword down for a moment and retreated to the sideline water cooler. She smiled as she jested with a tall, handsome, bearded male warrior as she walked. He maintain his battle but laughed along with her in a show of mutual comradery and companionship. She grabbed a cup from the side and began filling it from the cooler. Talon watched as one of the warriors tried to sneak up on her. She had probably only taken a sip or so when she tossed her sword up grabbing it by the hilt just in time to turn and clash with the other wolf’s impending blow. The water cup flew up before hitting the ground and emptying its contents. Talon was impressed. He wondered if this was the female Alpha they were claiming. His wolf Zion, whimpered. Talon silenced him and turned his attentions back to John.
“Well, John, I think it is time we discuss business.” Talon stated firmly, and in a way that expressed he would not be questioned.
“I suppose you are right.” John answered. “Let us retire to the study on the first floor for a drink and to resume our duties. But thank you for today, Talon. It has been great catching up.”
Once in the study Talon began his line of questions. First he had to determine if there was any likely hood that his daughter was indeed a female alpha. Although the formalities were just that. As soon as he’d be introduced to her he would know simply by smell.
Alpha John and King Talon had only just begun their interview and John was just about to divulge some information regarding Chastity’s mother when Talon heard a rattle just outside the door along with a thud. Before John even knew what was happening Talon was on the other side of the large doors. He staired angrily down at a petit platinum haired girl with big bright blue doe eyes. Mine. His wolf bellowed within him. He flared his nostrils taking in both the sweet smell that had been torturing him all day and the distinct smell of another man. Mine. His wolf repeated as Talon tried to calm the flurry of emotions that shot through him.
