Leif
I caught myself smiling and quickly shut that sh*t down. But it was hard because Ivy was funnier than I ever gave her credit for.
"I'm dead serious. I walked out of the bathroom with my dress tucked into my underwear and Green put me in detention for trying to seduce Hart and Gideon."
I press my lips together as I remember the day and shake my head. "That's not even that embarrassing. I walked around The Canyon Realm with Ronan and didn't even know he had drawn a d**k on my face until an old Fae woman smacked me on the back of my head."
Ivy laughed and I watched her eyes brighten and her t*ts jiggle. Hart sniggered and Amethyst snorted as she laughed, causing the others to laugh even harder.
"Wait, was it a realistic d**k or cartoon?" Amethyst asked, her face pink either from laughing so hard or the alcohol we were drinking.
A few yards away, staring at us to make sure we didn't tarnish their girl's reputation, sat Ivy and Amethyst's fathers in their cars. It was the only way unmarried Fae women were allowed out with any males.
"Real. Giant, thick, and veiny. Pretty nice drawing. Ronan's a pretty good artist."
Ivy's lips thinned at the mention of Ronan and Amethyst's mouth dropped open. Hart and Gideon guffawed but I was more interested in the girls' reaction.
"Wait..." Amethyst whispered even though the parents were too far away to even hear us. "What does a real one look like?"
I quirk an eyebrow as the boys shut up and Ivy's face pinkens. She elbows Amethyst and shakes her head, looking around with obvious wariness.
I smirk and bite my bottom lip. "You want to know?"
Amethyst inhales sharply and then nods. Ivy shakes her shoulder and shakes her head. "No. No, she doesn't. She will wait until the night of her marriage to see one."
Hart turns so his back is to the chaperones, pulls at the waistband of his jeans, and looks down his pants. He grimaces and shakes his head. "Yeah, nah...mine is resting. Gid? Yours awake for a demonstration?"
Ivy looks like she's on the verge of a breakdown and Amethyst looks hungry with curiosity. Gideon does the same as Hart and even shoves his hand down his pants and gives it a little shake.
"Nope. Me neither. You, Leif?"
I raise my eyebrows and swallow hard. I'm not shy. I have gone nude so many times at Blue Crescent with Ronan and his friends. But...there are so many things that could go wrong. Like the chaperones could decide to come out of their cars and interrupt our little fire pit drinking. Or they could already be spying on us with their air elemental magics.
I think of Ronan and what he would do in this situation and take a deep breath. "If you don't want to see it, close your eyes." I look at Ivy pointedly and she purses her lips and crosses her arms.
I glance at Hart and he subtly looks at the chaperones before he gives me a slight nod.
I unzip my jeans and pull my boxers down in the front, flashing my d**k to our group quickly before tucking myself back in.
Both of the girls look stunned. Amethyst begins to grin like she just got the best birthday gift in the world and Ivy is blushing hard.
"Holy Gods, are they all big like that? Or is that small? What's the norm? Was it hard or soft? And how does it feel?" Amethyst is bouncing on the log she's sitting on. excited as hell.
Ivy closes her eyes and shakes her head. "Amethyst, Gods. Those are private questions. And you're being loud. This isn't good. I shouldn't have looked. This is bad."
I scoff and lean back, shrugging.
Hart leans closer to Amethyst and smiles. "His is above average, Amy. He was soft. And they feel smooth. Like...velvet."
Ivy wrinkled her nose and stared at Hart. "Velvet? Are you sure?"
"Silk? Is that better?"
Ivy looked at him looking unsure and I noticed she smoothed her finger over the silk lining of the dress she wore. I smirked and shook my head. She wanted to know just as badly as Amethyst who was leaning forward as if this was important information.
"Is it velvet or silk because there's a vast difference."
Hart shrugs and grins widely, showing off his perfect, pearly white teeth. "I have no idea. But it's smooth."
Amethyst sighs and Ivy shakes her head slowly. I move around the fire pit and sit next to Ivy. I don't know why, seeing as I'm still wary of her, but it seems like the right thing at the moment.
"Why are you acting like a square?"
She scoffs. "I'm not. It's just not an appropriate conversation." She won't look me in the eye and I'm sure she's still thinking about my d**k because her cheeks are still pink.
I bump her shoulder with mine and smile at her. "I'm sitting next to you and the chaperones still haven't honked their horns. I think you'll be fine if you loosen up just a little."
She smiles and sighs. "Fine." She takes the half-full soda bottle we mixed some rum in and takes a swig. She scrunches up her cute little nose and gags.
I don't know why I find that hot, but I do. I avert my eyes and sit back.
"So everyone has chosen their girls?" Amethyst asks after a while.
We all nod and Amethyst perks her dark hair bobbing as she gets excited.
"Oooh! Tell me which girls you all chose from this region! I want to guess which one you will all choose."
I snort and shake my head.
"No. That's their private choice until our new packets get handed to us. Don't tell us. We don't need to know."
Amethyst pouts and slumps her shoulders. I can see her cleavage from here and I think about how Ronan crushed on her for years. She would have made a great match for him.
Her parents were more like mine when it came to other supernaturals. They weren't as strict as most Fae, so she tried to talk to him a bit more. He couldn't talk back but he always thought she was the nicest girl in our age group.
"Amy, would you have wanted Ronan if he was able to choose?" I ask her.
Her smile falters and she glances at Ivy who looks at the fire impassively. She shrugs and Hart rolls his eyes.
"Gods, Amy. It's fine. No one here will judge you, right Ivy?"
Ivy shakes her head slowly and pushes some of her hair behind her ears. "No. He's just not for me."
Amy brightens up and nods her head shyly. "I think so. He's beautiful to look at. And he's nice."
Ivy scrunches her nose but doesn't say anything.
"Yeah, he is." I sigh with a smile as I think of him.
"F*ck, does everyone have a slight crush on Ronan here?" Gid asks as he looks around the fire.
Hart shrugs nonchalantly and Amy nods. Ivy stays quiet and I nod too. Amy elbows Ivy and smirks.
"C'mon, Ivy. You can't tell me that if he was full Fae you wouldn't want him as a husband."
Ivy takes a deep breath and shrugs. "His power rank is-"
"No. No power ranks. Him as a person." I supply, interrupting her.
Ivy rolls her purple eyes which look dark as the sky begins to darken. "Fine. Yes. He's pretty to look at. Despite looking vapid, he's got a brain and he is nice. Even when I'm a b*tch to him Which irks the crap out of me."
I have no idea why that admission makes me happy but it does.
The next day at school Green walks in with an arm full of packets and my stomach drops.
"Do not open your new packets until everyone has theirs. The men have made their choices of at least twenty women from all of the regions. Phone calls to set dates with our regions start today. You all have a week, seven days, to take each of the girls from this region out on a date to get to know her. The date will be chaperoned by the girl's father who will be the one to take the call for the date. The numbers of all of the fathers are under the photo of the woman you chose.
"We will be leaving for The Falls next Monday, The Park the Monday after that, The Canyon, and then Yellowstone. So we will be gone for a month. Have all of your clothes packed by Sunday night and if you don't go on a date with a girl from this region by then, she will be eliminated from your choices. Same for any other woman in any other region."
"Women, the men that chose you are in your packets. Hand these to your father when you get home as he will be responsible for setting up the date and time for your dates. Now everyone can open their packets."
My stomach drops and I raise my hand quickly. "Wait, Green, Ronan is supposed to get back next week. Is he coming with us to the other regions?"
Green shakes his head and presses his lips together. "Unfortunately the High Fae from those regions voted against him coming. They want the women to focus on their available matches. He will remain here with the women and a substitute teacher."
"He's not allowed to mingle with the women, Green. What is he supposed to do when he needs a partner for elemental practice?"
Green nods and sits down on the edge of his desk. "I talked to the High Fae about that already. He will be allowed to talk to the women in class and at practices only. Anything else Elwood?"
I shake my head and slump in my seat. He will be arriving just as I'm leaving and then will be leaving on his last week here before his birthday as I'm getting back. My stomach knots up and I didn't even care to look at my packet.
There is chatter all around us from the others looking at their matches. Some guys have already taken their phones out to start making calls. Since other people are on their phones, I decide to call Ronan and tell him the bad news. I don't know what we're going to do. I'm pissed and sad and don't think I can concentrate on anything other than Ronan.
"Hello?"
I close my eyes as I hear his voice. How many more times will I be able to hear it before he stops calling? Will he find his mate as soon as he turns eighteen like Wyatt did?
"Hey." I don't try to downplay the sh*tty way I'm feeling. It won't do any good anyway.
"What's wrong? You sound like someone killed your cat. Is Fluff okay?"
I smile and pinch the bridge of my nose. "Fluff is fine. I...we got our new packets in. We are going on dates this week with the girls of our region."
He's silent then sighs. "So you'll be dating through to next week then?"
"Technically yes. But not the girls from here. We are going to the Falls next week on Monday."
"F*ck yeah! I have always wanted to see the Falls!"
I wince at the excitement in his tone and lay my head on my desk. "No dude, I'm sorry. Green says you can't go. And I'm pissed because we will be leaving as you get here and won't be back for a month. I won't be able to see you at all."
Ronan goes silent and I wonder what he's thinking. I wonder if he's going to that dark place in his mind that has been plaguing him since we were kids.
"Okay. Well...I'll come earlier. I'll spend a few more days in The Bayou just so I can spend more time with you. And...just because I'm not coming back after my birthday doesn't mean we're over. You can still come to see me and we will make it work for as long as we can."
I take a deep breath and let it out slowly.
"Yeah. Okay. I'll talk to you later?"
"Yeah. You can tell me who your first date is going to be."
I feel the blood drain from my face as I think of the extra name I added to my list. My stomach drops and I glance back at Ivy who is staring at her packet.
She looks up and our eyes meet. She quirks an eyebrow and lifts her packet to show me that she's looking at my profile. I look away and close my eyes.
"Yeah. Well, I have to make one first."
"Well get to it. You know you can't put it off. Love you!"
"Love you too."
As we hang up I feel the guilt of the choice I made and look down at my packet. I have to hurry and make our date happen before Ronan shows up. Then I can rip her page out and it'll be like nothing happened.
