Chapter 14I don’t know how I managed to make it to Lita’s house in one piece. I had never driven a scooter before, but I didn’t think twice before jumping on and racing southwest. With my phone’s GPS to guide me, I weaved my way through San Juan’s flooded streets. Since the tropical storm had passed and the rain had stopped, the water had receded a little. Some side streets were inaccessible, and I had to find a new route on occasion, but overall, I was able to dodge the worst of the flooding. I knew I was risking my own safety, but nothing was going to stop me from reuniting with Eduardo and making sure he was okay.
