"She's not ready!" My mother's stern voice raised goosebumps on my skin, though not inherently scary my mother gives off an aura of f**k around find out. The woman has never backed down from a fight in her life, especially with my father- she always won. Her slender arms crossed over her chest as she jutted out her chin daring my father to continue arguing, if they weren't fated mates and uncomfortably in love I'd worry he'd end up buried under the porch.
"There isn't time for this, Marie. We have to go help, now. We can argue when I'm back" my father stared back at her, his adoration clear in every cell of his body, he hated arguing with Marie no matter how important it may be. He's right, but she'd never let him know it, our neighbouring clan, The Moons Light, has been attacked we received an SOS from their Alpha about 30mintues ago but its been silent since, without knowing what we're walking into we need all hands on deck. "She's our healer, and we'll need her as a healer, Jameson." She placed a small kiss on my father's cheek as he grumbled disapprovingly knowing he'd already lost.
"Come along, my dear" my mother turned away from my father, defeat strong on his face, she opened the giant heavy wood door like a feather making her way through the stupidly large house-6 floors, over 40bedrooms,3 kitchens and 2 living rooms. As we came up the the ornate staircase my mother reached up tying her hair in a neat bun atop her head a few deep brown stray hairs escaped dusting the nape of her neck, coming down the staircase Marie all but floated her elegant body making everything she does look effortless and ethereal. Meanwhile, I trudged heavily behind her dreaming of the day I could possibly be half the woman she is - her beautiful deep brown eyes were mesmerising, her thin lips were always turned up at the corners her tiny constant smile, she was tree level tall at 6ft5 and still she looked petite, approachable. Together we made our way out the front door, the dull dusty morning made everything appear in greyscale, the rest of the clan stood to attention on the drive awaiting orders from my father.
"Come along my little dear, we need to pack the truck and be ready to move out. The Silver Lake clan need our help and we're going to need our strong little healer" she ran her fingers through my thin tangled mess of hair, and squeezes my shoulder lightly, reassuringly. As we made our way towards the trucks packing up gauze, disinfectant and our medic bags my father appeared at the front door, his tall frame nearly filling the entire door (I swear he's secretly a giant) the usual smile he wore was replaced with a solomn look, as he looked out over our clan preparing to address them "there has been an attack on The Silver Lake clan, we have received a request for help!" My father's chocolatey deep voice boomed over the crowd "what does The Moons Light clan do when asked for help?!" He raised his arms in triumph our entire clan bellowee and growled in response
"WE HELP!!!" They chanted and without hesitation began climbing into their trucks, kissing loved ones goodbye.

When we arrived at the clan, no the battle ground, half of the town had been burnt to the ground and the other half was still ablaze. People crawled across the floor in futile attempts to escape their barely standing homes and the engulfing inferno. "My little dear, set up the tent and begin rounding up the wounded. We'll bring more as we find them" my mother lightly cupped my cheek with her soft hand, "be safe, and don't go anywhere without a guide" I nodded curtly at her, collecting my medi bag from the bed of our truck "Ryder, keep an eye on my daughter and try your best to keep her out of trouble" he stood tall and saluted mum before joining me in unpacking the truck collecting the medic beds under his arms.
We began our set up quickly, groups collected to search, heal and help put out the blaze still roaring loudly. My parents held hands before embracing lovingly, they shared a brief kiss before they shifted, my parents were always a force to be reckoned with as humans, in their wolf forms they were something ethereal. My father, Jameson, stood 6ft8 human, and nearly the same as a wolf his dark sandy fur ran smooth and thick over his body, his usually dark green eyes became brighter and more dominant like giant lily pads floating in the sky itself, my mother, Marie, was nearly his exact opposite she was large too, standing nearly the same height as Jameson but her fur was an earthy brown small hints of black dotted throughout her coat, her deep Hazel eyes blended with the rest of her but goddess they pierced your very soul when she looked at you. They nodded to each other and ran off to the further part of the clans territory to collected the wounded and ensure whoever had attack them was gone
"Ryder, with me. Tend to those close" I bark orders like a drill Sargent, knowing some of these people don't have the luxury of time, without waiting for confirmation I began with those in view "hey, hey I'm Mari from a neighbour clan, were here to help. Come along" I helped the small woman to her feet and we slowly made our way to one of the medic beds "not to worry child, I'll be fine. Go tend to others" the small lady tapped my hand away from her as I tried to check her over for injuries "miss, please let me check you over. You have quite nasty burns and your head is bleeding" I stated the obvious facts while pulling out my medic bag searching for burn cream and gauze. The woman clearly didn't agree with my insistents, but didn't protest as I put the cream on her burnt arm and wrapped it up.
"Mari, I'm going to get reinforcements" Ryder shouted from a few feet away "there's too many and it's bad" his face was grave as he ran off into the wooded terrain surrounding is. Before I could even process what was happening or who else needed help another wolf came out of the woods with someone on their back, the man looked near lifeless, he was matted in blood his clothes has been torn and ripped into tiny shreds barely clothing anymore really. I waved the wolf down, setting up another bed for the man, with help we lowered his carefully onto the bed his wounds were the worst I'd ever seen. "Hey there, I'm Mari, I'm here to help I need you to stay as still as you can" carefully placing my hand on his shoulder I cut away the few remaining tatters of his shirt, "what's your name?" I kept talking at him trying to distract or comfort him in anyway, he is missing an ear bleeding badly from his head, there's a gaping wound on his left side it looks very concerningly deep and has major burns over nearly all of his body-I need someone older, someome experienced "... Gabe.." the man gasped the word at me his eyes flickering towards me, conscious at least is a good sign.
Ryder is already out getting more help, for now I just need to help with what I can the burns are severe and likely painful, I apply a soothing balm I learnt to make myself to his legs and torso letting it sit for a minute alleviating some of his discomfort but without an ear and that wound on his side there's little else I can do. On cue, Ryder came running out of the tree line with his father, thank goddess, Rick is one of the most experienced healers in our clan and taught me most of what I know. "Rick, ear missing, wound in his side unknown origin and depth cream applied to burns. His names Gabe. That's all I know" I bow out of the way for him to begin working his brow furrowed as he carefully inspected the man's side, definitely not a good sign, Gabe was barely able to keep his eyes open he mumbled to himself incoherently "Gabe, can you tell me what caused this wound" Rick lightly touched the man's hand "I haven't seen a wound like this before" with all the experience he has in the field hearing Rick not know something made all the hairs on my body stand up I do not like where this is going. Gabe opened his eyes, but they lazily gazed around the room, he mumbled again but none of us could hear him,he repeated the word over and over again trying so hard to raise his voice so we could hear over the still roaring fire and agnosied groans from those around us.
"Traps..." he breathed barely getting the word out between his own deep breaths I felt my eyes widen with fear, this was no fight it was a damn m******e! Whoever did this planned it, prepared for it, layed traps... TRAPS! I pulled myself out of the fog that crowded my brain, I needed to alert my parents 'THERE'S TRAPS SET! TRAPS BE CAREFUL' I threw the thought out to every wolf I could sense in the area, if they've hidden things in the woods nearly all of the clan is in danger. Including my parents.
