Elena stopped in the kitchen to check on Ashley. The warm smell of toasted bread and fresh fruit filled the air.
“Is lunch almost ready?” Elena asked. She made a mental note to ask Maren later if she preferred to bring her own lunch or have one prepared by the kitchen. She would need to ask Justin the same thing.
“Yes. It will be at the table in a minute,” Ashley said.
“Great. Maren will be my new assistant. So if you need anything from me and I am not around, you can ask her.”
Ashley nodded. “Of course.”
“Friday morning I will have a grocery list prepared. If you can handle the grocery shopping, that would be wonderful.”
“Absolutely,” Ashley said.
Elena headed into the dining room. A few minutes later, Ashley brought out sandwiches and fruit. Elena and her guard team sat together.
