“Lira, is there a library in the pack, or just in town?” Elena asked as they walked out of the dining room.
Lira laughed. “Yeah, there’s a library. A huge one, actually right inside the Alpha house. Ryker hasn’t given you a full tour yet?”
“Uh… no,” Elena admitted, laughing softly.
“Well, let me at least show you the library.”
Elena stepped into the hallway, and her security detail—Kai included—fell into formation behind her. The sound of their footsteps trailing her was still strange. She knew she’d have to get used to it, but right now it felt like walking with a spotlight on her back.
Lira pushed open a set of double doors. “Here we are.”
The library was enormous—two floors of shelves, warm lighting, and the faint scent of old paper and cedar. Elena’s breath caught.
