I step out of the room and immediately notice Rowan and two of the new guards stationed outside our door.
“Where is Kai,” I ask Rowan.
“Off duty,” he replies.
I do not bother hiding my irritation. I head straight for the offices. Maren and Justin are still working, papers spread across the table.
“Do you two not want to go home to your families,” I ask.
