HAPTER FOUR Ethan sat at a table watching His cousin dance with Daisy and he couldn't deny the fact that she looked gorgeous tonight. Alexandra and Amber were watching from a distance and were already confused about Daisy dancing with Jude, it wasn't right, she should be dancing with Ethan. Amber saw Ethan sitting at a table alone drinking. Alexandra suddenly had a plan and displayed it Amber who reluctantly agreed. Amber walked towards Jude and tapped him on the shoulder. "Dad want to speak with you". She said. "I'm very sorry princess, I'll be back shortly". He told Daisy. Now Amber turned to Daisy. "I heard you're very good at decorations, please do you mind going to the gazebo to inspect it and report what's good for it?". Amber pleaded doing the puppy dog face. "Alright, then". Daisy said as she left. Alexandra walked to Ethan sitting alone. "Dear, someone is retching seriously at the gazebo. Do you going to check it out for me please?". She pleaded. "Ask one of the helps". Ethan said. Alexandra knew it was going to be tough convincing Ethan. "Honey, I don't want strangers around her, I trust you more. Please do this for me your mother, dear". Alexandra pleaded. Ethan was already irritated. "Alright, alright". He said as he got up and took his glass as he went to the gazebo. Reaching the gazebo, he met Daisy deeply engrossed in studying the area, he wanted to leave immediately but was tempted to stay by heaven knows what. He leaned by the fence watching. " This doesn't look like someone who was retching". He finally said as Daisy turned around and looked at him shyly. "I'm sorry, I was asked to inspect this place". She told him. "By who?". He asked as he sipped his drink. "Mrs. Blackwood, I think". She answered. "That's my mother". He said. "She looked pretty and Miss Amber Blackwood must be your sister". She said. "But something isn't right". Ethan said. "We were asked to be in the same place by the same person". He said. "I get it now". Daisy sat down on a chair still staring at Ethan. "Or perhaps they saw something". She said looking sly. "What do you mean?". Ethan asked. " They're trying to set us up, isn't it?" She asked. "Whatever". Ethan turned to leave. "Don't go, please do come sit down,. It's choking inside". Daisy said in her gentliest of voice. Ethan couldn't refuse, he turned and we t to sit at the chair near her. "What do you want?". He asked. "I know we had a rough start, but let's both forget about it and start again". She said. Ethan sighed. He finished his drink finally and stared at the stars. "They're beautiful, aren't they? My great grandmother told me when good people die, they become one of the stars". Daisy said looking intensely at the stars. Ethan stared at the sky with keen interest as Daisy watched him. "My great-grandfather said that to me also". He said. "Then he must be up there too, just find the star that shines brighter". She said. Ethan's eyes were watery already as he gazed at the sky. " The frame I moved the other day at your office, is that him?" Daisy asked as Ethan's head dropped. "Oh, I'm so sorry". " He was the only one I was close to, the only one who understands me both in and out. It felt like my world was crumbling down before me when he died, u can never forget that day". He narrated. Daisy was feeling sorry for him already. "It's alright to pour out your feelings to someone, it helps in the healing process". She told him. Ethan looked up. "I've never told this to anyone". He said. "It's alright with me. Your grandfather must be very proud of you". Daisy said. Ethan got up abruptly. "Never dare to tell anyone about this or else". He said as he got up and composed himself before leaving the gazebo. Alexandra and Amber had been watching from a distance and satisfied that their plan had worked out. Daisy was left alone with her mouth ajar. Someone who had been emotional and open a while ago is now cold. Either way it was progress. Her phone beeped and it was a call from Cindy, she cleared her throat before answering it. "Oh, hi Cindy". She said. "Daisy darling, you must be enjoying the party aren't you?". Cindy asked. "It's nice, thanks for the dresses and the limousine". She said. "The dress actually looked great on you, can't you see you were the center of attraction?". Cindy asked. Daisy wondered if Cindy was also at the party and looked around but found nobody. "Thanks". She said. "So what about him, I see you're making progress with him a bit". Cindy said. "Oh yes, he's kind of soft in the inside. He just needs someone by his side to talk to". Daisy as she could hear a man groaning in the background. "Alright, that's also progress. Isn't it?". She asked. "Yes, sure. It is". Daisy said. "Now we'll be advancing into stage two, you'll need to gain his trust first". Cindy said as the groan in the background grew louder and it sounded like pain. Cindy shouted " will someone give him a short to keep him silenced ?". Daisy wondering who Cindy was and what she does and why she hated Ethan and wanted to punish him in a cruel way. "Now enough lagging behind Daisy, you're making progress but you still have a long way to go. I'll call you in the morning". She said as she hinged up. Daisy thought about Ethan and was beginning to feel pity for him but she knew she mustn't do that or she'll be screwed, she knew Cindy could be a dangerous person if disappointed by someone but she still needed her or she'll be screwed herself if she didn't live up to her expectations. She needed Cindy's money and affluence and she wasn't going to back down. She checked the time and decided it was time to head home.
