 Kodi was waiting by the car lot already when Bishop arrived. The passenger window was already down. “Wait long?” She ignored him and opened the door so that she could slide in. She had rinsed the sand off her feet under the spout before hitting the pavement, but she’d kept her shoes in her hand. Now she tossed them down onto the floor mat before digging around in the tote bag that Bishop had left in front of the middle console. “No hello?” “I’m busy,” she said.
