Lucy's POV
The hospital room was cold, but Ryker’s voice was colder.
"I think it's time we paid Nyra and the other elders a visit."
********
The Elders' home gave me chills whenever I came here. When we entered, they were all already in a circle, cloaked and humming.
Waiting for us.
Nyra's face broke into a grin the moment she saw us—or more specifically, the twins.
"The moon smiles upon us," she said in a voice that made my skin crawl.
Ryker didn’t waste a second. He stormed toward her and grabbed her by the throat.
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t snap your neck right now and end your pitiful life," he snarled.
Nyra, unfazed, gasped out the words: "Because it would bring death all through the land and not to mention a heap of bad luck."
She was cocky.
Ryker let her go with a hard shove. I stepped closer, my heart racing, holding one of our daughters close to my chest.
Nyra adjusted her robes and smiled like nothing had just happened. "Now, child… You must choose."
"Choose?" I blinked. "Choose what?"
"Which child to give to the moon?" she said. "Only one may be taken. The child chosen shall live among us, grow in power, and be raised in the old ways. The other one will remain with you."
Ryker stepped forward, growling. "You can’t be serious!"
I clutched the baby closer to me, heart racing faster. But before Ryker could erupt again, something happened.
One of the babies opened her eyes.
Wide.
A smile danced on her lips, and her irises burned bright ember, the same hue as the ancient stones glowing above us.
My breath caught in my throat. Tears spilt down my cheeks.
"Ryker... I think... this is the right thing to do."
"What?" he asked, shocked. "Lucy... are you saying—"
"If I hadn’t gone through the ritual, I wouldn't have survived the battle. I wouldn’t be here. They wouldn't be here." I said as I hugged my baby.
He stared at me for a long time before nodding slowly. "Are you sure?"
I looked down at our glowing-eyed daughter and kissed her forehead. My heart felt like it was splitting in two.
"Yes. I'm sure."
I walked forward and handed her to Nyra. The elder accepted her like a priestess holding a divine relic.
"You've made a wise choice," Nyra said.
Ryker leaned down and kissed our daughter's forehead. "Be strong, little one."
As we turned to leave, Nyra called out behind us. "The children must never know that they are related. Keep them apart... until the time is right."
I froze for a second, then nodded.
We left the elder's home behind, but the weight of what we’d done followed us.
*******
Back at Ryker's mansion, the moonlight painted the walls of the rooms.
My baby was fast asleep in the nursery.
I walked into our bedroom and saw Ryker lying on the bed, staring at the ceiling.
Without saying a word, I lay beside him. His arms wrapped around me instantly, warm and strong.
We faced each other.
"I’m sorry," I whispered. "About the ritual. Now because of me, our daughter is going to grow up without us"
He brushed a strand of hair away from my face and smiled. "It’s alright, Lucy. Whether it’s one baby or two, I’m just happy to be raising it with you."
His words melted something inside me, and then I remembered.
"Ryker... what does being marked really mean?"
His smile deepened, and he leaned closer. "Let me show you," he said.
His lips brushed mine—soft at first, then hungry with a burning desire. My heart raced as he kissed down my jawline, and then his mouth hovered over the curve of my neck.
"Are you sure?" he whispered.
"Yes," I breathed.
Then he bit me, his fangs sinking into my skin.
A sharp pain laced with an overwhelming rush of heat shot through my body. I screamed—not from agony, but from the raw intensity of it.
And when he pulled back, a glowing mark shimmered on my neck.
I smiled and looked up at him, “Is that it?" Did marking just mean getting a hickey?
Ryker planted kisses on my bare neck, trailing down to my collar bones, “That's just the first part."
He turned me over my side, slowly sliding his hand under my night gown as we looked into each other's eyes.
He used his fingers to shift my pants to the side and slid in, going in and out slowly and then increasing the pace.
He brought me up to sit down on him, facing him. He used his teeth to remove the sleeves of my night gown, skillfully I might add. He grabbed hold of my breasts and sucked them.
“Leave some for the baby," I teased, but he just sucked on them even more. By the time he let go, my n*****s were hard.
“Baby," I let out a moan in his ear, that must have turned him on because next thing I felt was something hard hitting me at my p***y.
He whispered in my ear, “Have you ever had wolf d**k before?"
I smiled and nodded no, and then he shifted only his d**k.
It was big and hairy, almost scary. He held my face and kissed my lips sweetly.
“I want you to ride it, Lucy. Tame the wild beast," he said in-between kisses.
I removed my pants and then sat on top of him, on top of the monster he had standing up.
“Ahhh," he groaned in pleasure as I sat on his d**k and started bouncing up and down. I felt his whole body vibrate.
He flung me over and now hovered over me, "Careful now, keep that sexy smile on and I won't be able to control myself.”
I laughed.
“Let's get married. For real this time. No contract, no fake love," he said, his eyes full of light.
I held his face with my hands, smiling at the thought, "I'd like that… Now shut up and kiss me.”
Five months ago, I had nothing—I was a nobody. Just a stripper working her ass off for her sick brother—My brother is doing fine, and his treatment has become a lot better.
But now, I was a f*****g rich heiress and the lover of the most feared Alpha in the entire state, not to mention I'd been blessed with 2 beautiful baby girls.
Though they'll grow up apart, I have a feeling their paths will cross.
