Lily woke up from a nap that evening and remembered that there was something she was forgetting. It was a frustrating feeling for her as she tried to remember what it was.
Her phone beeped and she saw a message from Alex: "I'll be there in 2 hours" the message read.
Oh that was it. That was what she had forgotten about. She was supposed to go on a date with Alex tonight. She quickly got up, bearing in mind she had two hours to look presentable.
She quickly removed the pyjamas she had changed into for her nap and took a look at the mirror.
She observed her boobs and her ass. She admitted to herself that she had a nice body; plush flesh and smooth skin with her curves in the right places.
She kneaded her breasts in her hands, checking for lumps. She did this every week ever since she had lost a classmate to breast cancer.
When she was done, she began to go through her bath routine. She applied some face cleanser and massaged into her face.
For Lily, no matter how broke she was, one thing she would never. joke with was her skincare. Her mother usually told her that a good face was good business, whatever that meant.
When she was done, she entered the shower and took a five minute shower.
Her stomach rumbled as she came out. Ugghh I have to eat something. She mumbled to herself as she quickly rummaged in her cupboard for something to snack on.
One of her rules for a date was to never go on a date hungry. She munched on a leftover sandwich as she dried off her body, placing the sandwich down as she dried herself between mouthfuls.
Her phone beeped and she checked it. It was Alex. I'll be there in an hour.
Shit! Lily swore as she hurried to her wardrobe to select a dress to wear. Now she wished Gina was here to help her choose a suitable dress. Fashion and dressing up was Gina's strength not hers.
She had left earlier that day for a class which surprised Lily because Gina rarely attended lectures. Sometimes, she wondered how she even scaled through but deep down she knew Gina was brilliant and had a photographic memory. She only had to read once for it to stick.
She sighed as she finally settled on a lilac coloured dress. The dress was a body con gown that she had only worn twice.
She dropped the dress on her bed and picked out silver colored high heels and proceeded to the dressing table to apply her make-up.
She wondered if she would meet a new Alex or if it would still be the sweet, gentleman she had once gone on a date with.
She finished her makeup in 45 minutes and slipped on her dress hurriedly just as she heard another beep. She already knew who it was going to be. Alex, messaging to tell her he was there to pick her up for the date.
She spritzed some perfume on her and took her handbag as she left her room, locking the door behind her. As she went outside, she saw Alex roll down his window while smiling at her. Lily took a sharp breath in. He had changed a lot from the last time she met him.
He came out of the car and opened the car door as she stepped in.
Wow look who we have here. Lily teased as she put her seatbelt on.
Alex was still gaping at her with his mouth slightly open.
"You look stunning", He said finally.
"Thank you. You don't look so bad yourself", Lily said as she observed him. He had shed some weight and his facial features were now more defined, giving him a better look.
They arrived at the restaurant and Alex gave his keys to a Valet.
He held Lily's hands as they walked into the restaurant. It was half full with prominently dresses people. They took a window seat reserved for them and placed their orders.
Five minutes later, their order came and they digged in.
"So, tell me about your accident", Lily said between mouthfuls of Tuna.
Alex cleared his throat and said: "Do you want to hear me retell the accident scene by scene? Or just a general summary?"
"Well, give me a summary now, and later I can hear the full story", Lily said as she gulped down a glass of champagne. She didn't realize how thirsty she was.
Alex began narrating his accident: "Well, after our last date, the next day I was on my way to the bank. My bank had called me to confirm a signature on some documents from a business deal. It was on my way there that I had an accident. I couldn't remember much of what happened. There was a lot of crash and screaming before I blanked out.
I woke up four months later from my coma. Luckily, my parents were there when I woke up to bring me up to date. Unfortunately, I lost the business deal that I was on my way to go clarify at the bank".
"Oh I'm so sorry about that", Lily said, feeling truly sorry. Here she was thinking that Alex had ghosted her. Although she wasn't too invested in him because it was only one date.
She was about to take another mouthful of her food when she heard a voice that she thought sounded familiar to her. Oh God, no please let it not be. She prayed in her heart.
She looked up slowly from her plate to see the owner of the voice. It was Michael! Why the f**k did it seem like this guy was everywhere she went? On second thought, she reasoned that this was a five start restaurant and he was probably just I'm his circle and element.
Michael had just entered the restaurant with his girlfriend......
Wait.....That wasn't the rude blonde girl that had accosted her at the gallery opening. This one was a brunette.
What a playboy. Lily thought inwardly with disgust. How was he just moving from woman to woman?
The lady moved quickly ahead of him to a table while Michael proceeded slowly to....
Whar the heck!!! Why was he approaching her table? She was ransacking her brain for what to say as he reached their table. Her thoughts were cut short when he heard him say, "Oh Alex, I'm glad you're well again".
Lily watched in horror as Alex stood to shake hands with Michael.
What the f**k had she gotten herself into?
