Back to the present Lily sighed as she picked up her paintbrushes again as she tried to get her mind off the events of last night. What the f**k had happened to her last night? Spilling drinks on rude strangers and getting caught in between a possessive blonde and her asshole boyfriend whom she now knew his name: Michael.
“Michael”, she spat out his name like a bitter memory.
She has never met anyone that rude. Mommy issues? Daddy issues? Or he was probably just an asshole. Some people were born that way.
She walked out of the dingy room she had converted to her studio. She went into the sitting room to see her friend and roommate awake. They had both fallen asleep as soon as they had gotten back home last night.
“I’m starving”, Gina said
“I made pancakes”, Lily said as she dropped on a sofa
“Oh lovely, this was why I insisted on us becoming roommates, you’re such a chef”, Gina teased her friend
“Yeah, and you’re the eater”
“I sure am”, Gina said as she went to the kitchen to help herself with some pancakes
“Can I get you a coffee?”, she called out from the kitchen
“Yes plese”, Lily answered, “No sugar please and some milk”
“Yes maa’am”
A few minutes later, Gina came out with a plate of fluffy pancakes and a steaming cup of coffee which she handed to Lily.
Lily took the coffee and muttered her thanks
“Yesterday was so crazy”, Gina said as she stuffed her mouth with a piece of warm pancake.
“Very crazy and I didn’t even end up making any connection”, Lily said while making an air quote with her fingers as she said the word “connection”.
“Don’t worry about that. Jeff sent me a flyer and a link”
“Oh no! Not another stupid gallery opening”, Lily moaned
Gina laughed for a while before responding, “Nope. It’s a kind of training for new and upcoming artistes and painters. It’s fully sponsored so it’s free”
“Really? The last thing I need now is another burden on top of my school work Gina. I’m not interesred in that”
“You are going to be interested when I’m done telling you the perks”
“I’m listening”
“So these trainees are going to have their sponsors coming once in two weeks to buy off the best painting. And none of these would be listed below 10,000 dollars!”
“Wow, that sounds really good. Getting trained and also the opportunity to get your work out there for the elite. Count me in”, Lily said excitedly
“yeah, thank Jeff”
“You are so lucky. You have the best boyfriend meanwhile I can barely find a decent man”
“Yeah, I’m a lucky girl but so is Jeff. He gets to keep all these beauty for himself”, Gina said as she stood up to twirl and give Lily a better view
“You look good babe. If I was lesbian you would have been my lover”, Lily replied with a small chuckle
“Don’t let that stop you”, Gina said as she winked at her friend.
Lily enrolled for the training that Gina had told her about, The enrollment was online and the trainees got to choose between mornings and evenings when they would be available to undergo their trainings twice a week for 7 months. Lily chose evenings so that it wouldn’t meddle with her school work.
