Chapter 1: new life

Seraphina's pov

It's been 5 years since I've been set free from the hell I always thought was my destiny. I have a master that is ever so doting on me like an elder would do to his younger sister but in my aspect it was more like a younger brother trying to make thing right by his older sister. I giggled at my thought causing my masked master to stop combing my hair and tilting his head in question.

"I had a funny thought." I grin at him and he smiles slightly before nodding and continuing to brush my hair.

"You know, I can brush my own hair, right?"

(I want to do it for you, it has a sense of calm to it.)

You must be wondering why he never talks, well he can't. He had his tongue cut off when he was younger. I'm unsure by who but just hearing story caused some really shivers to run down my back. It also brought a sense of Dejavu. As if I knew someone that witnessed the same incident.

(How would you like your hair done today?)

"hmm, French braid?"

(sure) he shrugs and professionally starts braiding my hair.

"Ethan, let me take care of that. You need rest."

(I'm almost done anyways Olivia.)

(I know you're in pain. Go before she realizes you've gone pale.)

(Fi-) I gasp when Ethan begins to cough. It goes on for a while and whe it stops he hides the handkerchief that I didn't even realize he had. Wait, is that blood?

I look up in the reflection of the mirror and find my master face really pale. I spring up from my seat and reach out in worry but he steps back and disappears from view.

"Is he ok? I think I saw blood..."

"He's always had a bit of a weak constitution since he was born. I'm sure it's one of his symptoms acting up again, he'll be fine after a bit of rest, dear."

"Are you sure?"

"Positive." As we finished I saw her mindlinking someone. Then I heard arguing from my master bedroom.

"And if it's ok with you, it think it would mean the world to him if you called brother. I would also appreciated if you me Olivia or a nice nickname or any sort." Olivia smiles but I can see the worry hidden behind the smile.
