The taste of her was still on my lips, sweet and wild like the forest itself. That one frantic, desperate kiss had shattered every shred of my control. My fever wasn’t just from the poison anymore; it was a wildfire in my blood, burning away every rational thought until there was only her. Adah. Her scent of fear and something else, something warmer, filled the tiny cave, and it was f*****g intoxicating.
I saw the flash of panic in her eyes before I even moved, but it was too late. My hands were on her, dragging her back against my chest. Her body was so small against mine, trembling from the cold. Or from me. I didn’t f*****g care which.
