ADAH'S POV Watching the brothers through the glass doors was like watching a slow-motion car crash. They looked so confused, so lost, trying to figure out how everything had gone so wrong for them. Good. Let them suffer the way I did. I almost smiled but caught myself just in time. I was still supposed to be the traumatized victim here. "Are you feeling better, sweetheart?" Mom asked, stroking my hair gently. "A little," I said in a small voice. "I just keep thinking about what could have happened if I hadn't fought back." What could have happened? They would have scared me for ten minutes and felt proud of themselves. Instead, they got destroyed. "You were so brave," Alpha Castello said warmly. "I'm proud of how you defended yourself."
