Evelina's POV "We chose you this morning," he said. "Let us mean it. Go north." I held his gaze for one second and then I nodded and I went. I came out through the side door and into the open air and did not slow. Behind me I could hear the fighting, the crack of timber and the sounds wolves make when they are not holding back. I held Ren tighter and pushed north through the tree break at the edge of the grounds. The pack held the line behind me. I could feel it even as I ran, solid and certain at my back. They were buying me time, and I was not going to waste it. Malik's wolves came maybe ten minutes later. Not my pack.
