It’s the second day in the Alpha’s house and I can’t help extremely exhausted by everything.
Throughout last night, I was unable to sleep, Jacob’s words kept replaying in my head over and over again. “You’re not her. You can’t be her”
But who is she? And why was he acting that way?
I’ve tried to make sense of it but I’m unable to. All I know is that Jacob is up to something and I have to find out what it is.
My thoughts came to a halt when I heard a knock on the door, I called out “Come in” The door was pushed open and Noah walked in.
His eyes softened as they met mine.
"Are you okay?" He asked quickly rushing towards me and cupping my face
"Yeah."
"He hurt you last night didn’t he?" He pressed further
I quietly shook my head "No."
"I can see he did Osline." His voice softened then suddenly raised "I hate that man! I just hate him."
"Noah it’s fine," I said not wanting any trouble
"No, it’s not. He married you, he’s supposed to protect you, not hurt you."
"Noah it’s fine," I repeated
"No!" His voice thundered. "It’s not fine, Osline. It can never be fine. He hurt you. He made you feel less, and that can never be okay."
I could tell he was angry.… very angry. I guess he does really care about me.
Noah kept going, calling Jacob a disaster. A smile tugged at my lips. He looked like he was about to yell again, but his mood shifted when he noticed the smile on my face.
"Why are you smiling?" He asked.
"Because you care," I said softly, touching his hand against my cheek. "And because I know you’re here for me."
"Of course I care. You’re my…" His voice trailed off, as if reality had just caught up with him. He let out a heavy sigh. "I’m going to get him back for you."
"Noah, I don’t want that," I said quickly. "Jacob is dangerous, and I don’t want him to hurt you."
"You think he can harm me?"
"Maybe… I don’t know." I admitted "All I know is that this is his town, Noah. It’s filled with his people. There’s no way we can do anything against him. You know that."
He sighed, defeated. "Fine."
"It’s gonna be fine, especially since I’m not in the dark anymore. Now I know that there is something about another girl."
His face twisted with confusion "What do you mean?"
"Jacob kept emphasizing ‘her’ I have no idea what he means by that but it seems like there was or is a girl and that dress I wore was her dress."
"Is it his ex-mate?"
"What? Jacob had an ex-mate?" I asked
"Yes, he was with someone before. I don’t know the full details but he did have an ex-mate."
"Did they separate or did she die?" I asked
He shrugged "I don’t, Jacob’s life isn’t very discussed outside but I’ll find out."
"Okay, I guess that’s what caused his outburst," I said almost to myself. It’s reasonable for him to be upset but the way he acted makes me wonder if there is more to all.
After a while, I couldn’t help but say "You think I should talk to Dominic? Maybe I could get some clues from him."
I know Dominic cares about me, even if he won’t tell me exactly what’s going on, I have a feeling he might fill me in on some things.
"No." Noah said almost immediately "Don’t talk to him and don’t even come near him. You don’t need Dominic in this."
The way he said it made me wonder if something was wrong.
"Why?" I asked
He hesitated before finally saying, "I don’t like Dominic."
"Ohh."
"Yeah, I don’t. And I think you should stay away from him." He said.
"Is it about him seeing us together yesterday because if it is, trust me he doesn’t think anything of it," I explained
"It’s not about that. It’s about everything. I just don’t want you anywhere close to him!" He emphasized.
As if he knew I was taken aback by his words he added "I know I can’t tell you what to do because you’re not my girlfriend anymore, but I’m saying this because I care. He’s not a good guy."
"Maybe he’s not but last night he was there for me."
"I know, I saw you both together. I came to check on you but he was already there," He said "I hate seeing you with him and i don’t like him. He’s too sketchy, and the way he looks at you… I don’t like it."
A smile spread across my face. I know what this is. "You’re jealous."
"No, I’m not." He frowned.
"Yes, you are."
He rolled his eyes "Maybe I am, maybe I’m not, but that doesn’t change the fact that you’re walking straight into something dangerous. I don’t want you caught in the middle of it."
"You’re right. I shouldn’t trust him or Jacob."
"Exactly. They’re brothers, and even though they fight each other, I’m certain they’re working together in whatever evil is happening."
"Yeah, I guess.." I sigh heavily
There was a bit of silence between us for a moment before he said "Let me know when anything happens okay?"
"Yeah, I will." I said, "Thank you, Noah."
He smiled faintly before walking out of the room.
When Noah was gone, I sat back in front of the mirror, brushing my hair. The door creaked open, and I assumed it was him again. But when I turned, I froze.
It was the devil himself. Jacob.
He glanced at me briefly before looking away, almost as if he was afraid to meet my eyes.
I scoffed and turned back to the mirror, though I couldn’t stop myself from stealing a glance at him. Every part of me hated his presence. I just didn’t want him near me.
Jacob must have noticed my stare, because his gaze lifted and locked on mine.
"Stop looking at me like I’m some monster you hate," He said.
"But you are." My voice was sharp. I turned fully toward him. "Do you not think you’re a monster after what you did to me last night?"
His lips curved into something bitter. "You wore an outfit that wasn’t yours. What were you expecting? A compliment?"
I let out a harsh scoff. "You are so unreasonable. I told you—I saw the outfit on the bed. I thought you picked it out for me."
"And why would I choose someone else’s dress for you?"
"How was I supposed to know it belonged to someone else?" I snapped back, my voice laced with anger.
He stepped closer, his eyes fixed on me. His mouth opened as if to speak, but then he hesitated. For a moment, his hand brushed my cheek, his gaze lingering as though memorizing every detail of my face. Then his expression hardened and suddenly he was even more upset.
"You should have known," He muttered, before turning and walking out of the room.
