Spending Time With Dominic

"How is the food, Jacob?" I asked. He glanced at me briefly and continued eating.
I pressed further "Do you have any plans this evening?"
Still, he didn’t budge.
"I was thinking why not spend time together. It would be fun to get to know each other, you know." I winked at him.
That made him feel awkward as he quickly pulled away. He asked, "What is the matter with you?"
"Nothing, I just want to get to know my husband," I said smiling
But he doesn’t buy that, instead, he studied my face for a moment, and then he said "What are you planning by doing all of this?"
"Why are you talking like that?" I questioned acting like I am offended but trust me, I am not. "I’m just trying to get to know the man I’m forced to live with."
He stared at me, and I smiled pretending like I meant my words. Then Jacob scoffed "Whatever is going on in your head Osline, dead it otherwise you’re going to regret it badly."
I rolled my eyes. Jacob might be a monster but I believe he can’t do anything worse than what he’s already done before.
"I’m going to regret wanting to spend time with you?"
"I’m telling you. You will." He said, then he wiped his mouth with the napkin, abruptly pushing back his chair and walking out of the room.
Dominic stepped in almost immediately "I’ll spend time with you Luna." He said taking a seat next to me.
"No, thank you.."
"Oh come on, it would be fun. Plus since Jacob doesn’t want to, maybe I would fill in for him. What’s the plan?" He said
"I actually have no plans." I shrugged
His eyes narrowed, he studied my face for a moment then he said "Why do I feel like you don’t want to spend time with me? Did Jacob caution about me?"
"No, it’s just that…" I started to speak but stopped when I realized I was about to sabotage myself.
I want answers but it doesn’t matter who it’s from. I mean, I could get it from Dominic since Jacob doesn’t want to talk.
Dominic might not have told me anything before but maybe now he would, if I just pressed enough and got him closer, he might.
"You know what, we should spend time together." I finally said smiling at him. "Maybe later today at the garden?" I asked
He bites an apple as he says "Sounds like a date."
I head out of the dining room and into the bedroom where I find Jacob working on his desktop.
I ignored him and headed to the closet to change into something more comfortable. I didn’t plan to change but I thought I should just so I could make Jacob slightly jealous. It would be fun to see him jealous.
When I walked out of the closet he spoke "Why did you change?"
"I thought you weren’t talking to me," I smirked.
He frowned and I said, "But anyways, since you refused to hang out with me, I thought why not hang out with someone who actually cares and wants to spend time with me so I asked Dominic."
"You what?" He snapped
"Yeah, and he was kind enough to want to hang out with me." I grinned "Isn’t Dominic such a great guy?"
Jacob stood up from the bed and marched towards me "I don’t want you hanging out with him."
"Well then hang out with me otherwise you don’t really get a say in this," I said as I turned to leave but he held my hand pulling me back.
"You heard me, you’re not going anywhere with him."
I scoffed "It’s just the garden, get over yourself, Jacob." I pulled my arm out of his and then stepped out of the room.
I expected a little more from Jacob, I’m honestly surprised that he tries to stop me that much.
Outside, I found Dominic sitting on the bench. I sat next to him. The warm air blows us as he said "I love your dress, Luna."
"Thank you, Dom," I said smiling at him. I knew Jacob might be watching us from upstairs. I want him to just so he could be jealous and maybe that would make him angry enough to tell me everything.
"Isn’t the weather just so beautiful?" I said looking around.
"Yeah, it is." He said
I moved closer to him and smiled. He looked at me confused and then a sly smile danced on his face. "So tell me, Luna, why exactly do you want this because I’m certain it’s not because you actually want to spend time with me or even Jacob."
I laugh "I guess I don’t have to keep lying anymore. But I want to know the truth."
"What truth?"
"About Jacob, the room…. Everything." I said. Dominic looks like he’s about to speak but I quickly cut him off "I know it’s not your story to tell but I just want to know a few things. I already know Malik was a burden wolf. But exactly what led to that? What happened to his ex-mate?"
Dominic’s face twisted in shock "You know he had a mate?"
"I figured it out but now I’m not sure of all. I want to know what exactly happened."
"I can’t tell you that Luna."
"But why? This has to do with my life too," I said
"I know but I just can’t Luna!" He yelled then suddenly his voice went low "I’m sorry for yelling but you should really not talk about this right now."
"Okay but at least give me clues? What’s her name? Do you have a picture of her? Anything please?"
"No!" He growled standing up "I’m not saying anything about her again and you shouldn’t talk about her too, especially not in Jacob’s presence." He walked away didn’t bother turning back, not once.
I sighed heavily. Jacob’s mate is definitely a sensitive subject but why?
