Chapter Thirty Jackson I forced my thoughts off of Shay and kept my attention on my slow descent to the ground below. I landed lightly on firm ground and immediately leaned over to check the woman’s pulse. It was shallow, but steady. I breathed a sigh of relief and called up, “She’s okay.” “Oh, thank God,” the guy above called back. “Jane!” Of course, she couldn’t reply. My heart clenched. I replied, “She has a pulse, but she’s not conscious.” I took a few moments to check her carefully. Aside from the lump on the back of her head, she seemed okay. In another moment, I heard more voices above me. Relieved, I radioed up. Dawson’s voice came through. “Chief sent me down with Lucas.
