[Logan’s POV] Being nearly surrounded was a bit of a hassle. What I didn’t understand was why they stood around instead of attacking. They also seemed to show more interest towards Rowan than they did to me, which I felt was odd. We were both a threat, but perhaps they viewed her as an easy target. Standing back-to-back, I could feel her trembling through our contact. If I thought it would not incite the rogues, I would reach out to hold her hand or speak soothing words. I took a steadying breath, ready to fling the pair of us through the small opening that was left. The rogues looked harmless enough to me, but I, of all people, knew looks could be deceiving. Most of them were skin and bones. The scent of unclean and infected flesh permeated the air.
