Sebastian's POV “I’m not…” The machine beeped red, sharp and unforgiving, cutting through the air before she could finish her sentence. I stared at her, the sound echoing louder in my head than it should have. She slowly removed her hand from it, almost like the device had burned her, and I could see her chest heaving up and down more noticeably now. For a moment, neither of us spoke. The silence that followed wasn’t empty. It was heavy. Thick.
