Present **********” “Ring….! Ring….! The cell phone kept vibrating “Hello.. “You're late” the voice on the other end sounded angry and rude. “I'm sorry Sir, I'm on my way, the taxi just broke down, please give me more time…” she pleaded as the line was rudely disconnected. “Oh.. what am I going to do…?” “Sir have you fixed the problem…?” She hurriedly asked the Taxi driver who gave her a disappointed look as he quickly returned her money. “You'll have to take another taxi ma'am, I can't fix the problem myself, I need the find a mechanic”. Under the burning sun, Winter went to the side of the road, trying to hail another taxi with the limited time she had. Every taxi had their lights off showing the already had passengers, Winter stood there for an unknown period of time. Few minutes later ********************* “Ring….! Ring….! Looking at her cellphone, Winter had already thought of one hundred and twenty five reasons the boss was calling her, but her brain only thought of ONE “I’m fired…” Accepting the call, she placed it close to her ears. “Hello Winter” “Yes boss” “I want you to pick someone up from the airport to the company, I'll send you the details, you better go now, If you are later, Don't even bother to come to the company.” Like before the line was disconnected before she could ask who she was picking up. Not longer after, she found a cab who stopped by to pick her up. “To the airport” “Yes ma'am” It took about fifteen minutes to get to the airport from where she was, luckily for her the company sent the details of the person. “I least I know how he looks like…gosh he's handsome…!” She was quilling in the cab like a little girl. “We have arrived ma'am, would you like me to wait for you* “Yes please” “It'll cost you extra” “Don't worry, I'll pay” Saying this she rushed into the airport, almost forgetting her bag. “Ma'am you're…” “Oh thank you” After waiting for about two hours, the flight she was waiting for, finally landed. Standing at the assigned place, “She watched as three bodyguards stepped out of the private jet, followed by a dashing young man with dark shades and a tall frame. Running up to him, Winter stopped two feets before his as she introduced herself and the company that sent her not forgetting to give a slight bow as a form of greeting. Raising her head, she was shocked to meet with his stern face almost like he was staring at her with disgust. “Oh I…” “You're blocking my way…” “Yes.. sorry” She quickly apologized and stopped the tear the was about streaming down her face from nervousness. “Please this way sir…” She quickly lead him to her cab, only to realize he was never following her from the beginning, as he made a turn toward a black Benz that was just packed outside the airport. Worried about the cab driver who waited for her for almost three hours, she intended to go pay him off, already fretting about the price only to realize he was already gone, who knows for how long. “Least I don't have to pay” She sighed in relief. Turning to the guest, she was secretly hoping, he would invite her to ride with him, but to her surprise he was already gone. “Oh no I'm gonna be late…!” Winter yelled in frustration, taking her heels in her hands, as she ran as fast as she towards the company. On getting to the parking lot of the company, her feets were already sour and swollen, gritting her teeth, she wore heels and adjusted her clothes. Despite the pain, she walked into the company with steady steps trying not to attract any attention. But as usual, luck was rarely on her side. “Oh…! Can't you see properly!” Winter was shocked by the scolding of her colleague, as the only thing she felt was hot coffee on her white shirt, which she clearly knew was no accident. “Can't you apologize…!” Her voice echoed in the entire lower floor. Looking at her drenched shirt which she painstakingly washed and dry, covered in coffee, her fist clenched and her lips trembled. “That's how low life is…” “Yes sister Diana…don't bother yourself with her, as long as your clothes ain't ruined, it's already, remember the boss will be meaning us soon, at least you look presentable unlike someone…?” The other colleague mocked giving a side gaze at Winter's who already felt sticky from the coffee. “What's going on here…?” A loud voice sounded from behind the crowd,, as they made their way revealing a young man with glasses. “Secretary Jones” Everyone made their way as he walked in the middle of the crowd. Before he could even ask, Diana retold the whole story, twisting the tales and making herself the victim. “Sir, I was about to serve coffee to the new Boss, when Winter here, ran up to me and bumbed into me, I'm sure she did it on purpose, she never liked me and always wanted me to look bad, but the coffee spilled all over her and she now blames me” “Yes sir I was there I saw it with my own eyes” another colleague confirmed, proving Winter the culprit. Angry and frustrated, coupled with her sour feets, Winter just excused herself from the mist of all her accusers in the middle of the drama, and went to the restroom to try and take out the stain before it became permanent. Naturally when the case was finally judged, The accused was nowhere to be found. While the drama unfolded on the lower floor, unnoticed by everyone, a young man in the stairwell was watching everything in amusement. “Sir is there anything you might need?” “Markus…What did I ask you to do?” “Report when the girl returned Sir” He answered politely. “Great job, guess we found ourselves an unlucky bird” “Get her new clothes to change, and bring her to my office… I guess this trip wouldn't be as boring as I thought” He gave a viscous smile and walked away.
