"Hey! Your here early!" Caligo greeted us when Gio and I entered the headquarters.
"Same goes to you" Gio plainly answered. If you all remember, yesterday, the three of us were almost late. It seems like today, the three of us are early. Lesson learned huh?
I did not even have the chance to sit on the couch because Soren already commanded us to go to the benches, yesterday. But today, I have a lot of time to sit on the couch since we arrive forty-five minutes earlier than our call time. I might consider waking up early everyday so that I can rest here in the headquarters before we go to training.
I hope I start real training today, sure the orientation was fun but I bet the training will be 10 times more fun.
The others started coming and we are already complete 15 minutes before hour 10, which is our call time. The boys, except Caligo, started to do some exercise. I wonder why. I watched them do some stretches and more for 15 minutes before my attention turned to Caligo when he speak.
"Aren't you going to exerc--" Caligo was interrupted when Soren went down from the second floor and told us to head to the benches. Does he live there on the second floor?
Soren started speaking when everyone took their seats. Just like yesterday, Soren is standing in front with Caligo on his side while the rest of us seats on the stair type bench.
"I hope you have prepared your body before coming here. Yesterday, I told you to think of a weapon you want to focus on practicing" what weapon? When did he announce it? While I was in the orientation with Caligo? Why didn't anyone tell me about this? Panic started getting to my head. This is not good.
That's why they were exercising a while ago. They are conditioning their body. I slightly leaned on Gio and whispered as quietly as I can but made sure that he can still hear me.
"You didn't tell me anything about this" I made sure that my lips won't open that much so the work head and his assistant won't notice anything.
"I'm sorry, I forgot" he simply answered as if it's nothing when I'm actually nervous right now. I don't even know a thing or two about weapons. I only saw weapons a couple of times, every time I see a Kavan back in Elletra, I also saw them carrying a weapon but I did not really see them that much, I live in a really private part of the island so you hardly see a Kavan guard walking around our neighborhood.
"You can't just go forgetting me all of a sudden"
"Yeah. I forgot I have a roommate. I'm really sorry" What? He's not used to having a roommate? I can't tell if he was telling the truth or if he is low-key sabotaging me. It's been days already. Great, just great. Now, what am I supposed to do? I am not prepared.
"As I was saying, you will still have to learn as many weapons as you can, that way it will make you versatile on weaponry and help you in your duty as future Kavan guards. But you still have this one weapon that you will practice and use more than the other weapons. That weapon will...let's say.... be your favorite. Now let's start"
"Where are the weapons?" Chylus who is sitting in front of us, asked.
"Good question! We will head to the mansion and do everything in there. Stand up everyone, don't worry, we will not walk, the mansion is kind enough to give us a ride" Everyone was cheerful except me. How can I? I didn't expect this. Sure I was hoping to start training already, but I thought I would start from the basics. Do I need to learn everything on my own since I'm late and they are on a different level now? What an awful system they have here.
While on the way to the palace, I was really nervous, I think I am starting to regret what I said earlier, yes training is really ten times more fun than orientation IF you have the knowledge, and I DON'T. I don't have any formal background in weapon training. I know how to kick and punch but I don't know anything about weapons. I am not even sure if I can hold one right.
As soon as we arrived at the palace or mansion or Ry's house, I guess, a maid gestured us to the training room specially made for Kavans. Why didn't they just place this training near the headquarters? What's with the long-distance? They are practically wasting energy and time. Awful system alright.
The training room is guarded by two Kavan guards by the entrance of the room, by the way, the training room is just a massive empty room. So where the weapons? Don't tell me we left it at the headquarters? Oh! Come on!
"Everyone, come here!" Soren shouted standing by the corner from the right of the entrance.
"Is this also your first time here?" I asked Ry as we walk to the corner.
"Me? Of course not. I am the son of the Kavan Head" Ry answered as a matter of factly.
"Oh! Yeah, I forgot. How about the others then?"
"They haven't been in this room. Before you came, all we do is learn how to fight hand to hand, this is the first time we will learn how to use a weapon" Should I say I am lucky that I didn't miss that much or not because of the fact that I miss something and it seems like Soren, the work head won't lend me some time to adjust and catch up to the lessons I missed. I should look on the brighter side, even though it's practically always dark on the island if it is not with the help of the man-made lights at least I would learn weaponry from the basics.
"This is where we store all the weapons used for training only" Soren gestured us to a room and as soon as I got my eyes off of the insides of the room, I can't help but admire all of the weapons inside. There are so many of them, in different kinds of weapons.
WOW! I can tell already that this will be a one heck of a training.
