CHAPTER FOUR

1121 Words
23 of April 2013. Three days to the explosion. Jack got out of the shower and started to get the feeling like he had gone too far with the way he had approached the two men that were on the verge of destroying the world without knowing it, but when he thought of it, it seemed right that he did what he had done. Jack was average height and in his late twenties, still looked like a tough teenager. He had become somewhat of a seer following the broadcast of one ‘frost bane tech’ company on their progress in building an artificial space. There was nothing good that was going to come out of adding another space to the one we already have Jack believed and more ridiculous, was the idea of the ‘Superwomb’ that was to house the monster that frost bane is giving birth to. His conviction was founded on the fact that few days after he watched the news and saw that someone somewhere was planning on building an artificial space, he started having a succession of strange dreams that kept reoccurring and the content of these dreams were direct and non controversial. He would suddenly discover that he was the only one left in the world after some strange and mysterious explosion that destroyed even underground facilities. There was also a face he kept seeing in his dreams and the injunction to keep him safe. His dreams were also how he got to know about the party at some girls’ house and the disaster that was going to happen there. He became certain therefore that the reoccurrence of the dream could only mean that this disaster he kept seeing was imminent and there was no surer candidate to fulfil his dream than frost-bane who were as of now, only three days from launching their newly developed technology that would destroy the world and everyone along with it. He sought for a way to stop the creation of the artificial space and decided to pose as a NASA representative as a start. He knew the difficulty this would entail and he took his time to work out the plan knowing that if they (NASA) were to send someone to a tech company and warn them of the danger they would expose the world to with their new space related technology, it would most definitely not be a single representative so he made it look like an un-official visit and off he went into frost bane but was certain himself that after the meeting with the two men that his words would not receive a second thought even as he left. He continued his quest of following the injunction he got from his dream to keep someone safe – a teenager he had never seen before. Who was planning on meeting someone at the wave land. The wave land was no place for such a kid he was convinced after he did his homework on him and found out all he could about him and his going to the wave land so he made some arrangements and was careful in doing so because himself was a ‘civilian’ according to the vocabulary of the wave land. When he finally saw the boy walking around and trying to contact someone who seems not to be reachable, he made his move and warned him not to trust whomever he was meeting. He was about to start feeling joyful when for a brief moment the boy seemed to be making his way out of the wave land but then suddenly he was talking with someone and then they were both walking to where only God knows. He followed close by to make sure the boy was safe and when he saw that he was, considering that they were discussing about some football application, he walked away nevertheless feeling sorry for the boy for he knew that those computer guys and the boss whose name was famous around that section of the wave land could not be trusted with computers because what they could do. “Poor Sam” he had said as he walked away. Having made sure that Sam was safe, he went off to execute the next step of his plan which was to warn and eventually save the life of the daughter of the man who was en route to destroy the world. He had thought that in the event that his warning to frost bane’s CEO was not heeded, he would then explain his dreams to the man citing the example of how it had saved his daughter’s life from the shootout he had foreseen in a birthday party that his daughter was to attend. So he tracked her to price mall and delivered his warning. He was certain again that she, like her stubborn father would not take him serious and go to the party despite his warning so he drafted out a plan to save her still because if she died, he could see no other way of proving to frost bane’s CEO that he was for real.             One thing that Jack did not know was that he was not the only one that was obsessed with stopping frost bane technology from destroying the world and that someone was already attacking the snake from the head and was not going at it as peacefully as he (Jack) was.             Max and Stanley sat in his (office) unconsciously taking turns to peep through the window as if to make sure a sniper bullet was not coming through. “Who does he think he is” Stanley managed to say. Thinking he was being resilient but Max knew he was talking out of fear due to the threat they had both received earlier and the worst part of it for Max, was having to explain it to his daughter. He was partially angry at Stanley who had ran over to his house like a scared little child the other day and made it obvious to his daughter that perhaps their lives were being threatened. That was something he never wanted his daughter to find out but now all thanks to him (Stanley) Max’s daughter was checking on him almost every hour to make sure he was safe. Little did she know that she was in much danger compared to her very optimistic father about his artificial space. “I do not think he is anyone important but his threat sure is.” Max started to say. “Do you think we should alert the police?” Stanley asked him “Yes we should but we also need to be careful about that because that guy does not seem like someone who cares about law” Max said.
