“I don’t think is your business who I’m dating?” I yell to my father. For a long time now he’s trying to convince me to leave Amber, the only pure and kind person that I have ever met. The last weeks he tried almost every day to make me break up with her.
“I don’t think you listen to me, George”
“I think he listens a lot from your father,” Henry said as he walked into my office, I had told him that our father, if you can say that person's father, weeks now is talking about Amber and he presses me to break up with her
“I don’t think we have to give a s**t about what you say” Henry years now is mad with our father. He has pressured a lot about the companies, and the business. He expected him to do everything perfectly.
“Henry”
“I don’t think you have a word in our life anymore Father.”
“I had enough from Grace I will not let you two embarrass me”
“Leave Grace out of this. She is finally happy and you will not ruin it. And we will not ruin our lives too” I say angry and Henry stands beside
“This girl is not for you George. I will not raise you to be with a lowlife girl. She is not worth it to be with a MacLean”
“You to wash your mouth when you talk about Amber. She is too clean to put her in your mouth” I say and Henry holds my arms so I don’t attack our father
“Clean? Are you sure about that?” He says laughing
“I had people ask for her. She doesn’t sound so clean and pure to me” he says with a laugh. I take and step forward and Henry still holds me
“I think you should leave father. Whatever you say it doesn’t change our minds. And you’re not in a place to threaten us.” Henry says and his smile froze on his face. Maybe he still keeps his name but all his property is in our hands, and with the proof that Patrick and Grace have, he is in a lot of danger
“I’m trying to protect our reputation. Grace has done a lot of damage by now”
“She is happy and excited with her new life. As a parent, you should be happy. Not fight her. As for Amber, she’s not going anywhere and let me tell you that soon she will live with me”
“I will not let that happen” he answers angrily
“Father as I tell you you are not in a place to threaten us. Let me make you clear that if you hurt a hair from Amber you will find all against you”
“She seduced you too Henry? I waited for more from you” That’s it I take it a step closer angry
“George he is not worth it. Father, you should leave. I can’t say I’m sorry that we could to serve you” Henry says and comes in front of me.
“You used to be at my side Henry. What happened?”
“Life happened. I saw how toxic you are and I want to start breathing. Don’t push us Father I will not hesitate to use Patrick” he breathed hard and with one last glare, he left.
“Are you ok?” Henry asks
“I will be when he stops threatening Amber,” I say and I sit on the couch
“I don’t want to intervene in your personal life but I think you should ask Amber to move in with you. Father maybe do something stupid. And your apartment has security.”
“You think he will call Ryan?” I ask
“I don’t consider it unlikely. He will use any way to take out Amber from your life. Is possible to send her to him again” he says and he sits beside
“Listen as I say I care for Amber too. Even if he takes her with him, we can make him return her to us. But until that happens I don’t want to think what more he will do to her” he says
“I should go take her from work and I talk to her”
“That’s the best.”
“Thank you, Henry”
“Don’t thank me. It will have happened soon or later. You two are mending to be together. I can see how you look at her and how she looks at you” he says and looks in the front.
You can say Henry was the bad boy of the family. Different woman almost every night, and after college, he tried to settle down but no woman made him feel ready. The last couple of years his need to find a woman to understand him, to feel him, to love him is more intense. I’m sure after all this playboy life he lived, he will be dedicated to the woman who will give him what he wants.
“I wish to find the one to look at you like that” he smiled and hit light my back
“I hope so. But now let’s focus on your girl” he says and stands up
“I will leave earlier to catch Amber”
“No problem. If I need something I will call you” he says and walks out of my office.
I finished work faster and I sent some data to Henry telling him that I was leaving. I reach the hospital and I park outside just in time to see Amber walking outside with her friends. She sees me and she walks faster to me
“Hey,” she says and she kisses me
“What are you doing here?”
“Hi. Hi ladies” I say to Hannah, Aria, and Nina
“I finished earlier and I thought to take on a date,” I say smiling
“Sure.”
“OK, girl see you tomorrow. By George” Aria said
“Have fun but not too much” Hannah says laughing and they walk to another car
“You never had come to take me from work. You always finish later than me” she says seriously and I open the car door to enter. I go around the car and I enter too
“Is not that I didn’t want to see you. But also something came up and I needed to talk to you”
“Ok. Should I be scared?”
“No. I'm here for you” I say and she breaths relieved
“I thought you wanted to break up with me.”
“No, that’s not going to happen. Is because I want you with me safe and calm I have to ask you something”
“Ok. Because I sense is important. Do you want to cook at home and we will talk without interruptions?”
“That’s a great idea sweetheart,” I say and I start the car. The good thing is that in my apartment she has left a few clothes so for tomorrow she has an outfit for her work. As for pajamas, she doesn’t need them. She wears my T-shirt or nothing. We reach home, and after a shower and a few things I had to finish for Henry, she has finished the food.
She cooks chili mac & cheese a new recipe that she saw on the internet.
“So what is so important that you want to tell me?” She asks and I take a bite
“Mmmm. First of all that is good. Good job sweetheart”
“I just follow the recipe. But thank you.” She says smiling. We eat almost all the food and she is looking at me
“You will tell me?”
“Yeah. Well, my father, the last few weeks knows about us and of course, he said to break up” I start and she stays looking at me
“Of course, I make clear that is not going to happen. Today we fought again and Henry also was there.” I sigh and I rub my palms
“He knows about you and your ex. Me and Henry are afraid that he will inform him where are you” I say and she leaves the fork down looking stressed. I go around the table and kneel in front of her.
“Sweethearts nothing is going to happen to you. I will make sure of that. I need you to agree on something”
“What is that?”
“I want to move in here with me. I have security here and you be always protecting” I say and I take her hands in mine
“I have to make clear that is not only Ryan that I want to move here with me. I want that anyway, but he makes to do it in a hurry” I say and she stands up without letting me continue
“Amby?” She walks to the kitchen and I see her resting her palms on the counter and her head down. I walk to her and I hug her from behind
“I will not let anything happen to you” I whisper in her ear
“I know. And I don’t want Ryan to take me away from you”
“He won’t. That’s why Henry and I thought to live here. Is more protective. I don’t want even for five minutes to stay with him”
“I knew that your family would not want me for you. Grace told everything about her and Steven. I knew that your dad would have a problem with me. I’m too little for you” I turn her around and with my finger I make her look at me
“I don’t care about what he thinks. Whatever he will do, there is no way to take me away. The only thing that he can threaten me with is to call Ryan here but I will not let him come near to you”
“If he does the same as to Grace?”
“He won’t. He does not have that power anymore. He can’t make you lose your job, he doesn’t have people to hurt you anymore. The same is and in me. He only has the name now not the power”
“Are you sure?”
“I told you the only thing he can do is call Ryan and tell him where you are. Only that” I cup her face
“And you stay here so he can’t catch you” She smiles
“It’s too soon” I frown and I’m ready to answer back
“But it’s the first time that I feel ready for that.” I smile
“I know that the situation is not ideal, but it is the only way to stay with you I will do it.”
“I love you,” I say and I smile
“I love you too. Are you happy with me?” She asks and I laugh
“What question is that? Of course, I am”
“Then I will do anything to continue you be happy.” She hugs me by my neck
“Me too sweetheart. That’s why this is unexpected. I want to be safe. I don’t want to be close to you this man. I will do anything”
“I know baby. I know.” She hugged me and buried her face in my neck. We finished dinner and then we watched a movie. She told me after work she would ask the girls to help her with her stuff. The good is that she has only her clothes, the furniture is all Kayla’s. I will take her to work every morning and if I can’t take her after I will send a driver to bring her home. She says that she will ask one of the girls but I feel much safer if a guy trained is with her. She accepted she couldn’t do anything about it when he saw how serious I was.
“I like it that you will sleep every night with me now”
“I like it too,” she says and she kisses me. We stayed hugging each other until we fell asleep.
