Chapter One
Maldor was the well renowned wizard of Glyden Kingdom. Many thought Glyden was a myth. Oh no! It was hidden by magic and he was the only one who new how but he was getting older by the day and needed to pass on the knowledge. Of course he knew better than to entrust just anyone with that kind of responsibility and power. Very few Glyden citizens knew the story behind the erecting of the magic wall.
It all started when a traitor poisoned the entire royal family at a banquet and left the kingdom with no authority, no heir, and no protection. This traitor sent in the Kái; a powerful force created from dark magic. It was a m******e. Hundreds of wizards and commoners fell that day. One of the wizards used his own life to seal the kingdom before more Kái could harm it, but he passed the sealing secret to his son with his dying breath.
Maldor was only 15 when his father died, leaving him as the only true wizard in the kingdom. Glyden had since then been hidden and therefore forgotten by the rest of humanity and told as a bedtime story. Now an hundred and five years old, he did enjoy going out of the wall to explore every now and then, to venture to hidden places of treasure and prophecy but it gradually began to weigh on him.
Walking in the woods, he heard a squeal of delight and hurried to it's direction. There he found a basket that seemed to move. Opening it with a lift from his staff, he found a beautiful baby girl, hazelnut eyes, honey colored skin and jet black hair. She was wrapped in a blanket that had a blazing fire stitched at its hem. This he noticed as he picked her up and wondered why one would abandon such a baby.
He laid her down again softly and turned to look at the basket, it was lined with tar. 'where did it come from'. 'Taking another peek inside it for more surprises, he found mushrooms, not any kind of mushrooms, these were Sakar mushrooms and they were known to get rid of one thing. This time, they failed to achieve their purpose and that could have only one reason.
Dropping them, he went back to the child, picked her, and held her in his arms chanting softly 'versa versa kul bac gbit fasra' The little babe immediately fell asleep. Anytime he went out of the magic wall, he brought back amazing things. This time, he was bringing back something else, a child born for one purpose only; evil. He could feel the aura of it around her. He was holding the key for world damnation in his arms.
There were two options: kill or mercy.
He frowned a little and looked at her again. She looked innocent but deadly, with a dark force that would soon take effect hovering about her.
He had read and studied ancient prophesies concerning this evil and the only way to conquer it seemed impossible. He had never thought it would be born in his time, soon all life would be at war.
Taking a deep breath he looked at the child again, mercy ruled. It was in desperate need of a mother, a good and kind hearted mother to take care of it.
He thought hard about a suitable choice. "A-ha!" he said "Martha Tarlaton" of course, she was perfect but she would have to raise this child far away from Glyden and he knew the perfect place. He must hide and protect this child if he wants to save her.
Then he thought of naming the child, "bah! I'm sure Martha would do justice." One question lingered on his mind; this child was open for anyone to love her, would Martha be open to accept her after she learns of her fate, Who would want evil in their home? Oh but the child looked so harmless and innocent, unsure of her own destiny.
He decided not to tell Martha.
