I got up the next morning determined to shove all of it behind me again. I’d be there for Micah, but if he was a dad, I’d step back graciously and let him figure out his new stage of life on his own. It was the right thing to do. I checked on my dad before I headed outside. He was still sleeping peacefully. Even if I hated being home, I was glad my dad was getting some rest. I knew it wouldn’t be long before he was up, and if I wasn’t outside before he got up, he’d go out and check on things himself.
