CHAPTER 11

The convenience store bell rang as a customer walked in.

Christy looked up and screamed "Phoebe!!!"

"Girl, how have you been ?"Phoebe exclaimed as she hugged her.

Phoebe and Christy go back a long way. As long as when she started working in this convenience store when she was 14 years old.

She was Dave's sister and she still remembered their first impression of eachother.

She'd just entered the store when she saw a girl about her age looking around before taking some snacks and walking away.

" Don't tell me, is she stealing?" Christy muttered under the breath.

As the girl passed by her, Christy grabbed her arm and twisted it.

The snacks fell of the girl's hand .

She groaned in pain"ah, who is this nutcase. Let go "

"You are the nutcase. Why are you stealing from here ?"

Dave ran in due to the noise .

"Manager, I caught her stealing"

Dave came to the front of the girl and peeped hee face " Phoebe?"

"Brother, tell her to let go of me !!" Phoebe cried.

"Let go , she's my younger sister"Dave said to Christy who instantly released her arm.

" Hey, when did you start hiring thugs?" Phoebe shouted at Dave and turned to face Christy " and get your facts straight. What? Stealing ? I already paid for the snacks "

Phoebe bent down to pick up her snacks.

"I'm sorry " Christy apologized to Phoebe and Dave.

Phoebe eyed Christy " we are the same age. Shouldn't you be in school ?"

"I don't go to school "

" Really ? That means you have no Friends " Phoebe took out a snack and gave her " here. From today we are friends, got that ?"

Christy took the snacks and smiled "yes"

Three years later , Phoebe had gone abroad and Christy hadn't heard from her again till now.

"When did you get back from the UK ?"Christy asked.

"I just arrived this morning" she looked around " Where's Dave ?"

Christy smiled" running late as usual"

Phoebe pouted " I wanted to surprise him " she then beamed " but it's good that we have this place all to ourselves for now. So give me all the juicy stuffs. What's been happening ?"

Christy smiled "You are the one who went abroad and is supposed to be giving me the juicy stuffs "

Phoebe sighed " nothing fun really happened. Just the usual then date and breakup . How about you ? Any guys yet ? "

Christy bit her lips to suppress her smile and stop her from thinking about Adrian . She shyly nodded her head.

" Ohhhh, who is it ?"

The bell rang again as another customer walked in .

"Goodmorning, we aren't opened yet "Christy said politely.

" I know. I would like to speak with you" Bridget eyes moved to Phoebe and back to Christy " privately"

"do you know me ?" Christy asked when she and Bridget were outside

"Forgive me . I'm Bridget, Adrian's sister"

Christy nodded her head " Ah "

"I know it's short notice but I wanted to see you"

"It's a pleasure to meet you "

"Same here. I sent Adrian my wedding invitation to give you . I hope you do come and come over for lunch sometime " .

Christy nodded her head" That's so thoughtful of you . Thank you "

Bridget looked at her watch" I have to get going if I don't want to he late for my fitting. See you later ?"

"Yes, later"

Christy sighed as she watched Bridget left and turned back yo the store .

There she saw Dave and Phoebe chatting and smiled.

She couldn't believe she had thought that nothing was easy.

She was about to walk in when her arm was grabbed by someone.

She turned around and smiled as she saw that it was Adrian .

"Goodmorning" he breathed heavily.

She smiled" did you rush over ?"

"Yes. I wanted to see you before you start working. Can we meet up later when you are done ?"

She nodded her head " yes "

Adrian pecked her cheeks" see you later then "

Christy couldn't stop smiling and she saw him walk away and walked into the store.

" Oohhh,was that him?" Phoebe asked smiling.

"She was bound to fall for him. With the number of times he showed up here, I fell for him too " Dave said " he helped raise up the price alot "

Christy laughed and Phoebe laughed.

Dave went to the storage room to bring out more items and set them up giving Phoebe and Christy see space to chat.

" I'm glad you are happy " Phoebe said." But then, has your boyfriend been abroad before? I feel like I've seen him somewhere"

" I think so . He just came here " Christy replied smiling as she remembered their first encounter.

"Someone can't stop smiling. I'm jealous " Phoebe teased.

" Are you going to stay in the store much longer ?"

"No, I'm going to take look around town and remind myself why I was a fool for leaving in the first place"

Christy laughed.

She never thought it was possible to be happy. With her parents death, how hard it was to make a living, her being looked down upon because she was uneducated, her grandma landing in the hospital....but here she was .

And that was all because of Adrian .

She went towards the counter and picked up her phone to call him him and realized she'd never called him first.

He picked up after the first ring." Hello ? "

"Hey , where are you ?"

Adrian looked around him " just got home."

Christy smiled " I like you. I called you to tell you that "

Adrian felt his heart stop beating. This was truly a new and exciting experience to him .

"hello ? Are you still there ?" Christy asked .

"I like you too . Very much "

Christy beamed and looked up as a customer walked in " I have to go . Later "

"Okay "

The line went beep.

Adrian stood up from his bed and punched the air and started dancing.

Miguel covered Fraya's eye " pretend you didn't see that " and walked away leaving master Adrian to himself.
