Kian Calen Levington POV
I was exhausted when I got home, expecting to be greeted with a big hug from my wife. But I was wrong; it didn't happen. I knew she went to her parents because Lucian told me. She even went to a restaurant, thinking I would join her and her sister, but she was wrong. Damn it. Did she think I didn't know that Sorin was with her again? Why did that girl come back into our lives? She’s nothing but trouble. I wish she would just stay away.
Even after she went out, she didn’t think of coming home and staying here. She gave some flimsy excuse about just eating out. She didn't even mention she was with Sorin. What kind of excuse is that? She can't fool me! We lay down in bed, and I closed my eyes, but all I could imagine was Estria smiling because of Sorin.
I know I’ve been busy these past few days and haven’t been around much. The reasons I give are half-truths and half-lies. It’s true that sometimes I stay late at the office. We are working hard to increase our sales for the future of our child with Asteria. I’m sure our efforts will pay off. We want to build a bigger family. But it’s frustrating. I couldn’t take it anymore and sat up, frustrated with everything.
"Is there a problem?" Estria asked, sitting up like me.
"Go to sleep," I said softly. She still needs her rest.
"Y-you can tell me if something’s bothering you," she tried. She seemed genuinely concerned, but I wasn’t in the mood.
"Can you just sleep?" I asked irritably. I'm always irritated now. I'm dealing with a lot of problems.
"But—" she started but then stopped, clearly not wanting to give up.
"Don't you understand!? Huh? Go to sleep," I shouted. My frustrations spilled over onto her again. Her eyes widened, shocked by my yelling. I immediately regretted it but didn't apologize.
"O-okay," she said, lying down again and turning her back to me. She lay there, restless. Damn it.
The next day...
Asteria Celeste Averix LevingtonPOV
I didn't sleep well last night. I was upset because Kian yelled at me. I didn’t expect that, and it really shocked and hurt me. What is her problem? I don’t understand her anymore. She’s so bipolar. I got up, and as usual, she was no longer by my side. I’ve gotten used to it, but I still don’t like it. I still want her to be there when I wake up, to greet me with a "good morning" and kiss me on the lips like she used to.
I got up reluctantly and went to the bathroom to freshen up. I felt hot from irritation, so I took a shower. The water felt good, and after a while, I dried off and stood in front of the large mirror, which reflected my entire body.
"My baby is big," I said happily, caressing my stomach. I felt pleased with what I saw. I went to the closet, chose a comfortable dress, and put it on. Then I sat on the sofa and checked my phone.
Sorin: Are you free today?
Am I really free? I don’t have anything to do at home. Besides, I don’t want to talk to Kian right now. I’ll let her cool down first; otherwise, she might yell at me again.
Me: Yes.
I was hungry, so I went to the kitchen. My wonderful wife was there, frowning at her phone. She ignored me completely. I sighed, grabbed a loaf of bread, and some spread from the fridge. I returned to the sofa, munching on the bread.
Sorin: If you don’t mind, do you want to go to the mall?
Perfect, I thought. I really wanted to go out. I would have liked to go with Kian, but given her current mood, that wasn’t an option. She wouldn’t want to go, and she’s busy, even though I haven’t asked her yet.
Me: Sure.
It only took a few seconds for Sorin to reply. Quick replies are the best.
Sorin: I’m coming to get you.
I went to my room to change into something more appropriate. I chose a loose black and red dress with sleeves. Once I was ready, I went back downstairs. I saw Kian sitting on the sofa, still engrossed in her phone.
I sat on another sofa and continued checking my phone.
"She's taking so long," I whispered to myself. I got up to check if Sorin had arrived outside, but Kian stopped me. She grabbed my wrist and gave me a dark look. I stopped and looked at her.
"Where are you going?" she asked seriously, her tone light but sharp. I swallowed.
"To the mall," I replied.
"With whom?" Her eyes narrowed.
"With Cyra," I lied, suddenly afraid of her expression. She chuckled softly.
"Don't lie to me, Estria," she said emphatically.
"Sorin," I admitted, closing my eyes to avoid seeing her reaction. When I opened them, her aura had darkened, and she was glaring at me.
"No one is leaving," she finally said.
"But—" I began to protest, but she cut me off.
"No buts," she interrupted. She stood up, went to the door, and pocketed the key. Then she returned to me.
"Ah!" I yelped as she picked me up and carried me to the bedroom.
"Sorin will be waiting," I said when she put me down on the bed, feeling embarrassed and concerned.
"Tell her you can’t make it," she said. I nodded and started typing.
Me: Sorin, sorry. Something came up. I can't go.
I waited for it to send. Sorin replied quickly.
Sorin: Really? All right, next time.
Kian grabbed my phone from me.
"Change the SIM card," she demanded, taking the SIM out of my phone.
"Why?" I tried to grab it back, but she was too quick.
"To cut off your connection with that girl," she said, hiding my SIM card. I sighed, frustrated.
"All my important contacts are on that SIM," I protested.
"Do you mean Sorin is important to you?" she asked, frowning.
"Kian, Sorin is a kind person. Why are you so angry with her?" I asked, annoyed.
"I'm angry because you have so much fun with her," she said in a low voice.
"Stop being childish, Kian!" I shouted, feeling overwhelmed.
"Don't you understand? I'm jealous," she admitted, stopping me in my tracks. I laughed softly at her reaction.
"Why are you laughing?" she asked gruffly. I approached her and kissed her on the cheek.
"You're so cute when you're jealous!" My anger towards her melted away. When it comes to Kian, I’m very fragile. She locked me in her arms.
"Because you lied to me last night," she said.
"Huh?"
"I followed you, and my sister reported to me. You did eat out, but you were with that girl," she explained.
"I'm sorry," I apologized. I should have told the truth, or I wouldn't have been yelled at last night.
"I don't accept apologies, Wifey," she said, turning away with a frown.
"But your kiss can take away this madness," she added with a smirk. I leaned in and kissed her. A quick peck.
"That's it? Is that what you call a kiss?" she asked, unimpressed. She turned my head and pressed our lips together. We kissed for a long time. It happened again and again, but I never got tired of it. I really like being close to her. Finally, she stopped.
"Don't lie to me anymore," she said, panting, our foreheads touching.
"I promise," I said, looking directly into her eyes. We kissed again. After that, we lay on the bed, side by side and touching. She hugged me.
"Sorry for coming home late at night," she said.
"Why?" I asked, hugging her back.
"I'm just taking care of something important," she replied. I didn't ask further. We just hugged, enjoying every minute together. Now I know why she was angry with me last night. My tears fell.
"Why are you crying?" She wiped my tear-streaked cheek.
"Because I’m happy," I answered. She caressed my stomach.
"When the baby comes out, let's have another one right away," she said with a mischievous smile.
"You p*****t!" I shouted, pinching her nose.
"You love it," she teased with a smile.
"You're bad," I said childishly.
"Even if I'm bad, I love you." I blushed at her words.
"I love you, my wifey."
"I love you too." She kissed me again.
"You're addicted to kisses," I joked.
"Only yours," she said, kissing me again.
