Chapter 11: The Other Reborn

302 Words
Lena’s blood ran cold. Her fingers tightened around the note as she read the words again. "You’re not the only one who remembers." The room suddenly felt too small, the walls pressing in. She forced herself to stay calm, but her mind was racing. Someone else had been reborn. Someone else knew what was supposed to happen. Damien’s eyes sharpened as he studied her reaction. “What is it?” Lena hesitated, then handed him the note. He read it, his jaw tightening. “Interesting.” That was an understatement. Lena had spent the last few weeks believing she was the only one who had come back with knowledge of the future. She had used it as her greatest advantage. But now? Someone else had that power too. And she had no idea if they were friend or foe. Her mind immediately went to the most dangerous possibility. Victoria. If Victoria had also been reborn, that would explain why she was already watching Lena so closely. It would mean Victoria knew exactly what she was going to do before she even did it. She swallowed hard. If that was true, then she was already at a disadvantage. Damien tossed the note onto her desk. “Any idea who left this?” Lena shook her head. “It could be anyone.” She forced herself to think logically. If Victoria had also been reborn, she wouldn’t have warned Lena. She would have used the information silently, manipulating events like she always did. No, this note wasn’t her style. Which meant… someone else had come back. But why tell her? And more importantly—who were they? Lena took a deep breath, steeling herself. “I need to find out who wrote this.” Damien’s smirk was sharp. “Then let’s start hunting.”
