Lena didn’t move as Ethan stepped into her penthouse, his cologne—a scent she once associated with love—now suffocating.
She folded her arms. “Say what you came to say, Ethan.”
Ethan smirked, his gaze sweeping over her as if he was seeing her for the first time. “You’ve changed.”
Lena arched a brow. “And you haven’t.”
His smirk widened, but there was something dangerous in his eyes. “I see Damien Knight has taken an interest in you.”
Her pulse spiked, but she kept her face unreadable. “Why do you care?”
Ethan took a step closer. “Because you’re mine, Lena.”
She let out a sharp laugh. “I stopped being yours the moment you betrayed me.”
Ethan tilted his head. “I had my reasons.”
Lena narrowed her eyes. Here we go. “Let me guess—you’re about to spin some sob story to make me forget what you did?”
Ethan chuckled, shaking his head. “I won’t insult you like that. I know you’re too smart to fall for it now.” His voice lowered. “That’s why I’m here. To offer you a deal.”
Lena stiffened. “I’m not interested.”
“Oh, but you will be.” Ethan pulled a folded document from his jacket and placed it on her coffee table. “Because if you don’t accept my proposal, everything you’re trying to build will come crashing down.”
Lena’s fingers twitched at her sides, but she refused to reach for the paper. “Threatening me now?”
Ethan smirked. “Call it… insurance.”
