If I Didn't Need Him

I felt the moment he walked away from her. I felt it, and at that moment, I knew. I knew, and I hated it. I hated the truth. I hated what was going to happen. I hated what any of this meant, yet I knew that I would never feel right again if I did not do something. The truth being that even if I did do what was right, I would not feel right. I needed to see the doctor at once. He was the only one that knew. He was the only one that I wanted to know. He was there in fifteen minutes. I was impressed that he had come so quickly, but I knew I could not show it on my face. “I need you to do research.”

              “On how to get rid of a human as a mate?” he asked, a slightly crooked smile on his face.

              If the pack did not need him… “Yes. I need to know the outcomes. What happens if I mate with her or what happens if I reject her.”

              “I will look into it. For the time being, though, you are going to need to work on giving her an excuse to move here.”

              “What?” I asked, nearly screaming at him.

              “She doesn’t live around here. If you don’t find a reason for her to stay, she will leave you, and getting her back might be a problem.”

              I glared at him before I said, “I will figure something out. I need you to focus on what I am to do.”

              “I will do my best,” he said, walking out of the room. Damn, if that man was not needed… He knew it too. He knew that we needed him and that I could not touch him because of that. He made himself so indispensable that he knew that I could not touch him. No one in the entire pack could touch him. He knew it too. Nearly walked around that he had the air of someone from the alpha family. He knew better than anyone that I could be replaced before he was. But he did not seem to care that much about it, just more willing to say the things that he wanted to say.

              My Beta and his brother came in a few minutes after he left.
