Oscar
“Shhh... I told you not to get involved,” Oscar threatened the officer in charge as he came out of the enclosed room covered in blood, another dead body lay on the chair. The man was protesting that Oscar was killing the men he wanted to be trialed.
It had angered Oscar for men like these did not deserve to be treated fairly when they had not spared a single thought the same of their victims. In his eyes, they were stripped of any human rights after that.
Oscar walked out of the inner room while the man kept his mouth shut, following him out. He had been saying that some reporter had tried to get information in four of the police stations that the men were taken to after their arrests, this year. She stated that she was doing a follow-up and the officers had given her a brief statement but the woman was not satisfied. She had pulled out a list of names and read some of them out before the officers had shown her the way out, forcibly. She had screamed about ‘freedom of the press’ at them and that she will return.
“Maybe you should tell her that the family is better off knowing the men are dead,” he muttered minutes later and the officer shook his head.
“How? What bodies?”
“Bodies? Does she want bodies? The family knows they’re dead- aren’t the officers telling them?” A mere reporter's view on human rights was not important as long as the victims were okay. If she did not learn her place soon, he would have cause to shut her up.
The young king had instructed two officers to bring in each of the surviving victims that lived and inform them that their attacker was dead, every time one of the criminals died by his hands. They always cried from relief and some even requested to be shown the bodies. He made sure the victims were not children that would be worst of, with the trauma of the sight of a dead person or persons. In such instances, he brought in parents or guardians instead. Still, the same rules applied in the case for any dead victims- parents or guardians were brought in and the hellish news was broken to them.
All were always relieved to know the monsters were dead and not locked away, being fed and housed in a prison somewhere and all left therapy soon after- all better. See Oscar agreed that a doctor can only do so much to help a mind, for sometimes good people have demons of their own that can only be vanquished with other evil acts…like death and Oscar was lucky enough to be in such a position to help.
Then they were made to sign a document forbidding them to talk about it. They were allowed to say instead, “I heard he died.” Or perhaps, “He migrated.”
Yes, these beasts in human form were always male thus far. That did not mean that the authorities had written off female criminals. It just meant that women did not generally cause devious harm to others to a great extent, where they ended up here- with his special team or worst yet- him. Women tended to be on the petty side of crime like stealing or killing in self-defense.
Of course, there was always the assumption these women did exist in his country and were just not caught yet. Women he had learned could be so sneaky…he shook his head.
One victim’s family had made an unusual request for one child- the actual victim and they had agreed but only after they had closed the black bag, the dead man was in. But she had spunk and had even asked the officers to place the dead man on the floor for her. They had thought it an unusual request but had obliged her and the twelve-year-old had screamed and kicked the body in the bag a few times while the shocked policemen had held her back. But Oscar understood her pain, her anger- her relief that he was not harming another child again. Her rage that the monster was dead and death was the easy way out for him. He understood her fury. He will never forget the relaxed expression as she stared at the dead man on the floor- she was safe now.
He hoped her nightmares would be at bay now that her monster was dead- one can only hope in these situations- Oscar knew her pain although his was a different kind, they were still similar. He hoped to have the same look on his face someday.
He did this for them- the children whose lives were ripped away by monsters.
Of course, he had made them understand that it was not to be made public- for he knew how the public worked. There would always be some i***t that made claims that it was inhumane and someone was being framed, that they were innocent. There was always an innocent among the criminals- that was why Oscar made certain they admitted their guilt before, so his conscience was also in the clear too if and when one died.
But Oscar was thinking of the captain’s words for he knew this day would eventually come. He was undecided still on if he should have the officers drop the dead bodies off somewhere, to be easily found. He knew many victims did not know they were dead as there was no way they could contact all victims of these animals, and were still plagued by their trauma. The only thing was who is to find it? Obviously, it couldn’t be the same officers- they had to be found by the citizens themselves- but how? Oscar didn’t want to risk a child finding the bloodied bodies for that would set off another set of disturbances on an innocent mind- it wasn’t willing to chance that. His people came first- always.
So, he couldn’t drop bodies off.
He had come with another idea but nobody was willing to do it. And he very well couldn’t, for time was of the essence to him. He would if there was no other alternative but there were always options of hiring another team if the standing ones didn’t want to partake in it.
Or he can also just order them too.
The captain sat down on his heels and leaned back on the wall of the bathroom stall and Oscar looked down at him as he wiped the blood off his face with the paper towel before disposing of it. “Yes, but she wants proof-”
“Proof? Give me her name, I’ll see to it she shuts up,” Oscar barks and he turns away to look in the mirror in front of him. He soaked another piece of the disposal paper, under the faucet and wiped his face and neck again, not bothering with his clothing as he would be throwing them in the bin.
“Name Daniel,” he repeated when the slightly older man had clamped his mouth closed and the officer handed him a business card, he had in his shirt front pocket.
Two hours later Oscar met with Anthony and the royal guard looked at him soberly when he handed him the card and nodded when Oscar spoke, looking at the card before placing it in his breast pocket silently.
“Deal with her.”
Oscar needed more men like Anthony, who did as he was told and did not question his methods- although Anthony did question him when it came to his wife. He grimaced as he looked at the guard and waited for him to ask him when he was going back to bring her but he didn’t.
He hadn’t made up his mind yet on how to handle her- or how she achieved her escape- see he just didn’t know what was going on for both Ju and Anthony were acting, unlike their usual selves. Just what about Katherine had them betraying him? Well, it wasn’t a complete betrayal but Oscar felt it in his bones that something was amidst and he is king so technically going against him was an act of betrayal but he considered them his friends. Trusted friends and he knows they would never harm him or put him in harm’s way. But what was this feeling he got that all was not in his favor?
At first, he had suspected Ju was up to something and he had been astonished when he had emerged in Katherine’s place the last time and not to where she was at the moment, as he had expected.
See, before, Oscar had always been sent to where Katherine was- he had discovered that she had changed condos only when he had run out of her place and into the elevator that time, to thank the president of her former country. He hadn’t noticed before for the apartment was almost the same- just as his, save the furniture. When he mentioned this to Ju, she had stated that the pishogue was to take him to where his chosen one was- wherever she might be.
With that discovery, he got a condo and started heading there with his men instead.
Basically, if she was in a meeting, he would have also shown up there, so that was why Ju had always waited until 3 am when Katherine was sure to be asleep before she did her magic on him to transport him. He had been quite lucky that first time, for what if his chosen one had been in a public area that first time?
This last time he had a hell of a time finding her, at first. See he could not find her for her father had moved since the last address and the hospital wasn’t giving out any personal information. Saying that he was Katherine’s husband did not help as the patient wasn’t Katherine herself.
He had to return to his condo and then back home to his castle, certain that Eric would keep her in check so he didn’t bother to check in on him. Then he went in search of Anthony and then her files with the new address in there. But when he returned and found her, he decided to give her another day to herself.
Time was up a day ago. “Anthony, I will be going for Katherine in an hour- please see to my father, yes?”
