“Do you like what you see- wife?” Julian mocked Kat. He looked at his woman on the bed and frowned. Nuwa shouldn’t have been exposed like this to this creature he was engaged to. In fact, the vile woman did not even deserve to be in the same room as his woman.
She really had gotten him angry … sh*t? She had the audacity to call him sh*t?
As if he didn’t have enough crap to deal with at the moment because of her. Heck, Prince Yichen and a few other Royals had been at his throat about Nuwa already and had practically gleamed in joy when the Archbishop and the Mage had declared Nuwa was wrong for the throne. While the mage and the priest, may have had his best interest at heart, his cousin did not. Yichen had figured that Oscar would have chosen to abdicate the throne, hence leaving him next in line to rule.
But Oscar intended to be a great king, who put his country first and if that meant not marrying the woman he loved, then so be it.
He swallowed the sour taste in his mouth, belted his robe- for he was naked beneath it and grabbed Kat by the forearm pulling her away from the bed, where Nuwa sat with her eyes wide like saucers, covered partially by the sheet Kat had pulled. He swallowed the sour in his mouth again, which had been sweetened by Nuwa’s blood on his tongue just a minute before. The stupid woman hadn’t let the sheet go and Nuwa shrieked gabbing the other black satin sheet to cover her naked body.
It maddened him more for although he knew Anthony had turned away from them, he was still a witness to their conflict. His trust in Anthony, with his deepest of secrets, had nothing to do with the embarrassment that bleached his face now.
The newly crowned vampire king was fuming mad.
“Are you happy now?” he cried as the sheet dragged on the floor as he shoved her in the direction of Anthony, his face dark.
“Anthony! Get her out of here!”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
“Oscar. Stop it,” Nuwa cried as she saw Kat fall on the floor.
‘She is so drunk; she can't even walk straight. Such an embarrassment.’
Oscar Julian twisted his mouth in disgust at the woman on the floor, who was now silent after all her attention-seeking words. She was so pretensive, even had him making sure one specific waiter tagged along with them, to serve her alone, so she would not confuse the alcohol drinks with her no-alcoholic wine. He could see, she just couldn’t wait for him to leave to show her true colors. The woman was heavily sedated and still drank when cautioned by the royal nurse not to.
He walked back to the woman on the bed as he saw her wrapping the sheet around her body. She was actually trying to go to assist the woman on the floor.
‘Sh*t.’ This drunk garbage called me sh*t. I should behead her immediately!’
He held Nuwa by her shoulders and pushed her back down on the bed and sat in front of her. “Honey, she does not deserve your kindness.”
“Oscar- I know but still…she is a woman. You can’t treat people this way.”
Flaring his nostrils, he nodded his head, “I’m sorry. She’s drunk. I’ll just get rid of her.” He turned his head around and saw Kat had gotten up by then and was looking at him with a furrow between her brows. Standing up, he slowly made his way to her, to turn her in the direction of the door but she raised her hand slapping him across the cheek. Shocked, he made a grab at her again and he heard his Nuwa gasp out loud.
“You b*stard! How could you do this?” Kat screamed. “On our engagement night?”
“Tch. As if we’re a real couple,” he returned scornfully.
She made another attempt to slap him again and he grabbed her hand mid-way, working his jaw trying to maintain his calm. Looking at Anthony who seemed crossed between doing his duty of protecting him and her he yelled out, “Be very careful how you abuse your power around me, Katherine. You are harming the King. My Royal Guards are there to protect me from any harm or abuse- that includes you. Anthony is being lenient because of your state- so please heed my warning.”
Dropping her hand, he stepped back and nodded to Anthony who stepped forward and took her hand, pulling her to the door gently.
“I’ll never marry a cheater!” she cried looking back at him and Anthony paused in his steps.
‘What in actual f*ck?’
Why couldn’t she just shut up? Gosh- he flicked his sharpened teeth with the tip of his tongue- ‘so easy to get rid of her. One bite and he would drain her dry- voila no more talking.’
“Cheat? You think you are that special to me?” Julian pointed behind him in the direction of the bed, “this is the woman I love. I’m cheating on her to marry you. But it’s good you know, so I won’t have to hide it.”
“What?”
“What?” he mocked her, “Don’t marry me- see if my father ends up in jail.”
‘Finally, the b*tch had no words.’
“Exactly. Now run along to your chamber. We have a big day tomorrow and you need to be looking fresh.”
She stared at him with an eyebrow raised- as if she could not believe his words. He folded his arms across his chest and copied her eyebrow movement. He was mad enough to twist her neck at the moment. He felt his fangs protruding.
“You expect me-"
“I expect you to behave like the queen you signed up to be. Sober and stupidly waving at everyone,” he looked to Anthony then with a stern glare before turning to Nuwa, giving her an apologetic look for he knew she would judge him by his harsh words. She was a kind soul … unlike him and what he was putting her through. But he needed this shady woman to understand she was not wanted by him- and never would be too.
"Don't feel too good about yourself Kat- you were the only option I had," he said scornfully, “I never wanted to marry you.” He flicked his hand towards Anthony, indicating he’s had enough and hearing the click off her heels on the floor he knew they were gone.
“Oscar- why did you do that? I could have left,” Nuwa’s soft voice and caring attitude towards the entire scenario had him relaxing immediately. She had that effect on him.
“Honey, don’t. You shouldn’t have to leave because of her. She’s the outsider,” he held Nuwa’s face between his hands and kissed her soft cheeks one by one and she closed her eyes bringing her hands up to cover his.
“Oscar- we need her. Without her-“
“Shh my sweet. Everything is fine. All is well.”
“Oscar, I’m serious. You do know that a little thing like small jail time is nothing?” she opened her eyes with a worried expression. She was referring to his fiancé’s father.
“Ah, but you don’t know how vain she is. Everything about her is vanity.”
“If you annoy her too much, she could very well not marry you… please treat her better, at least until the wedding.”
Oscar nodded just to please her, promising her that he would. He will be more cautious but Nuwa didn’t know Katherine like he did. Her world revolved around money and riches. The richer the better. She was all about the glim and glam lifestyle- a conniving airhead.
Just look at how she had shut her mouth up as soon as he mentioned her father’s debt would be paid if she married him with no questions asked. And look at how she displayed herself yet again- drunk and falling over, just like before.
When he was fourteen years old, he had been sent to the outside world to learn about their lifestyle and boy had she taught him. He had met Katherine a year later and his innocent friendship with her had grown until he had the courage to ask her out at his sixteenth birthday party. He had even recited a poem to her that he knew she loved.
She had clapped with glee, giving him her famous boxed smile at the venue his guardian- Anthony had rented out for him and his classmates. Kat had been the only one that was not in his class to be invited by his butler at his request, of course.
He had given her his innocent love until the night of the senior dance. He had gone to pick her up and her mother had said that she had already left. Oscar had tried to call her but her cell was off and not thinking much of it he had gone to the dance. He had seen her dancing and enjoying herself, beauty in her baby blue gown and silver shoes and approached her to let her know he had arrived.
“Uh- are you serious right now?” she had pushed him away when he leaned down to her face to kiss her cheek. He had straightened up looking down at her a bit surprised.
“Can’t you take a hint? Tch…geez.”
Still uncertain of what was happening he had tried to take her hand to go outside for the music was too loud on the dancefloor. It was then she showed how vicious she could be, for up until then Julian had always brushed off her sharp words at him and everyone else as just a typical teen’s behavior.
She had pulled away from him and pushed a stunned Julian back. Then she reared up and shoved him harder and he almost fell on the floor. “I told you it’s over!”
He had looked up at her in horror for nobody had ever dared to treat the prince like that ever in his life. “I texted you! I already have another date,” she shouted at him and he saw people staring, some with their hands over their mouths. Oscar had gotten up and dusted his suit and left.
While he was in his car heading back to his condo, he got the late text. ‘sry. hv nx dte 4 dnc.’
He had plotted for two days until Monday morning vowing to get back at his now ex-girlfriend.
