Understanding Oscar

Oscar Hooded darkened violet eyes met dark blues. Katherine bit into her bottom lip and twisted her neck- his teeth sank into the soft flesh. “Hmm,” he heard her deep throaty sigh as her hand tighten around his neck. He’d been thirsty for too long. Euphoria. Before Oscar became a vampire the metallic smell of blood used to upset him- as in he would become nauseated. He couldn’t comprehend how his father could stand the taste in his mouth. The fresh scent had him throwing up when Drago had tested him by giving him a glass containing animal blood when he was ten. Now- ah, now the nectar ran down the back of his throat and the sinful taste surfaced on his tastebuds. He deepened the pull on his fangs intake but still tried to not lose control over his animalistic instinct which was harder than the usual since he craved Katherine’s blood in a much deeper way. Not like the others. Nuwa faded from his mind along with the others the same second, he did the comparison. Kat’s nails dug into his scalp and he knew she could feel the powerful narcotic pull. As a vampire, his 'vessels' all felt it when he drank from them. It was a gift to them, granted from the Gods’, to satisfy their willingness to feed their king. Katherine was different. He already knew this but still, he was caught by surprise when she climbed her legs up and entwined them around his waist, pulling her core against his muscled stomach. She released a disapproving sound when he tried to pull back a bit to give her some space. But Katherine was not having it- no air was to pass between them. She could smell- blood? Was he bleeding? She did not care for that. Kat was selfish at the moment and chose instead to head towards the twilight playing inside her being. Katherine She could smell- blood? Was he bleeding? She did not care for that. Kat was selfish at the moment and chose instead to head towards the twilight playing inside her being. Slowly, she felt him retracting his teeth from her neck, a slight burning sensation taking its place. Oscar kissed her wound, disappearing the pain once more as he cleaned up whatever spill was made with his tongue. His hands on her fanny, helped her pants-covered legs slow descend from his narrow waist. Clumsy was far from her mind as she stood on the tip of her toes on one foot as she had taken one side of her shoes off earlier and the other well balanced on the medium-heeled one. He still gripped her waist and she was grateful for her knees were still weak and her hands gripped his shirt front. His thumbs pressed into her stomach as his thighs dipped and he kissed her chest area that was exposed, through the two loosened top buttons. She moved to open the others but he made a rumbling sound that seem to come from his chest and instead halted her fingers with his huge ones. “There’s somewhere I need to take you,” Oscar muttered and Kat felt her stomach swelling. Is this the part where she finally lost her virginity? She blushed and nodded her head, feeling the warn…as they washed repeatedly over her. She refused to think of the other three times she had made attempts at s*x and failed. This time is different. She stood stupefied. Minutes later, with a large plaster over the four puncture wounds on her neck Oscar was leading her down the brightly lit hallway. But the exit from the medical section in the castle was not taking them to her nor his quarters. This wasn’t the direction of any bedroom; it was taking them down to White Room. “Why-” “I want you to understand me Katherine and why we do what we do,” his simple words struck her mind and Anthony’s words came back to her then- ‘the king is different. He thinks differently…’ "I know you think what I do here in Demkas is unjust but trust me- I know you don’t but please do,” he turned back to glance at her. He was walking ahead with a royal guard while another walked with her, one step behind him. Ahead of them and behind were two other guards. Kat wanted to be left alone with him- why couldn’t they walk alone? Why do they need to be guarded within the walls of the castle? Isn’t here... supposed to be the safest place for royals? The intimacy from earlier was beginning to wear itself out and Kat felt cold as she looked at Oscar’s back as he continued looking forward and walking briskly. It was as if he was all business again. 'How is he so unaffected by what just transpired between us?' “There is no grey area but yet they think that they could explain their guilt and think that they would be found innocent as it doesn’t work that way it’s pretty black and white,” he was saying inside the elevator as the doors opened to them down in the basement area of white room. Yeon ad already explained to her that crime was so low in the city of Proteus- in fact, the entire country of Demkas that no police were really needed before when King Drago ruled. So, it had been just military-based in the time before. He told her that civilian policing had only been in place less than twenty years now. And so, most of the crimes that were considered hard criminal activity were still monitored and rulings were sentenced by the king. “Civilian police are more for petty crimes. Like stealing, disorderly conduct, driving under the influence and yes, even in public places,” he had assured her. “p**********n- yes we have that at a high rate here,” he had explained when he had seen her surprised look. “Shop-lifting, assault…” Okay, so Katherine understood then that Oscar had a tough job. She understood too that whatever Drago and him were doing was way beyond a great job as- yes, she did compare after Anthony had bragged about their low crime rate in comparison with her country and the rest of the world too- far as saving lives were concerned. But freezing them? Oscar took her into a room with four other detectives. The female officer she liked, Saunders. They all did a head dip when they walked in. Through the glassed wall, she could see Yeon walking around looking frustrated as ever as another tall, heavily built detective sat across the table, opposite a cuffed man. All men were dressed in white long-sleeved shirts. “How can I get the innocent verdict when I’m confessing to the crime?” the handcuffed man, who seemed to be in his early thirties, was saying. His face looked haggard and new hair growth was on his face. He had to have been here at least two days she estimated by his beard. The man seemed to have a decent job too, judging by the way he dressed- suit and tie, minus the jacket. She supposed he was arrested before he could have put it on or maybe it was left back in his holding cell. Yes, Kat knows her way around here now. “Criminal procedural process, article 310. Law of leniency in lieu of a confession law and when the defendant’s confession is the only evidence that defendant cannot be declared guilty.” “But-” “Your girlfriend just happened to have been there? Are we fools?” the huge detective was saying as he unfolded his arms. “What? “ the man’s eyes grew wide at the mention of his girlfriend. Katherine thought he was married. Oh well, common-law relationship counts too, she thinks. “She was caught on tape leaving the rooftop when she exited the elevator. Just where your wife happens to work? Is that coincidence?” Yeon piped in as he placed bout hands on the table looking at the handcuffed man. ‘He’s married? With a girlfriend? Oh, he’s a cheater.’ “Ca- camera?” the man was beginning to look nervous now. “Since there is no other evidence even if you confess, I will declare you innocent, your girlfriend will be the guilty one, whether she confesses or not!” the huge man raised his voice. “What? But- I’m the one giving my statement and I say I did it!” the wide-eyed man, stood up looking at the glass they were all standing behind. “Yes, he’s innocent Katherine,” Oscar was saying to her as she stared wide-eyed at the trio in the room. Why would he confess to a crime he did not commit?
