Heavens! The Civil Affairs Bureau…
Liang Luo was struck by sudden realization—Xi Jin Nan had brought her to the Civil Affairs Bureau! In her focus on watching him earlier, she hadn’t even realized where they were heading. Now, standing here, her mind raced with confusion.
Xi Jin Nan was in the Civil Affairs Bureau with that woman—what were they here for? To register their marriage? Or perhaps to file for a divorce? But neither seemed to fit.
She had never heard that Xi Jin Nan was married. If this was a marriage registration, that woman would be the one Xi Jin Nan held affection for. But if she were the one he cared for, surely he wouldn’t have looked at her with such cold detachment.
Xi Jin Nan’s gaze toward that woman was even colder than the one he’d cast upon her.
Liang Luo felt as though her mind had short-circuited.
She made a decision… to follow them inside.
Just as she was contemplating, Assistant Zhao approached: "Miss, please come with me."
"To the Civil Affairs Bureau?" Liang Luo pointed at the building.
"Yes."
"Assistant Zhao, are you sure… that I need to go in?" Liang Luo pointed at herself, still in disbelief.
"Yes, Miss."
In a daze, Liang Luo found herself walking into the Civil Affairs Bureau.
It was late afternoon, just before closing time, and the office was nearly empty.
Liang Luo stood out like a sore thumb, her presence almost glaring in the quiet room.
Moments later, she saw Xi Jin Nan walking out of the divorce registration office, a woman by his side, both holding a small green booklet.
A divorce certificate.
Liang Luo was stunned. So, Xi Jin Nan had been married all along?
She watched as Xi Jin Nan casually handed the divorce certificate to Assistant Zhao, then turned to her with a brief glance: "Liang Luo, come here."
She obediently walked toward him.
As soon as she stood beside Xi Jin Nan, the woman’s sharp voice sliced through the air: "Xi Jin Nan, what did I do wrong? What’s so bad about me, Yin Qiaoru? You said you wanted a divorce yesterday, and today you’re already here at the Civil Affairs Bureau! How can you be so heartless, so cold?"
Xi Jin Nan didn’t even spare her a glance, his voice as cold as ice: "Shut up."
Liang Luo stood frozen, her mind reeling from the exchange.
Xi Jin Nan shifted slightly, now standing so close that Liang Luo could hear the faint sound of his breath.
"Zhao Xu, where are her documents?"
Assistant Zhao immediately stepped forward, handing over all of Liang Luo's personal documents.
Xi Jin Nan took them, quickly scanning through the papers. With a swift motion, he handed them back, his voice calm and detached: "Let’s go."
"Ah? Where to?"
"Marriage registration."
Liang Luo felt as though her feet were glued to the floor, unable to move.
"Xi… Mr. Xi, you… you’re not joking, are you? Today… today isn’t April Fools’ Day, it’s my birthday…"
"Your eighteenth birthday, correct?" Xi Jin Nan asked, his voice unwavering.
Liang Luo nodded frantically: "Yes, yes…"
"Then that’s settled."
Still in a fog, Liang Luo couldn’t quite process the situation, staring at Xi Jin Nan, as if her mind had failed to catch up.
Was Xi Jin Nan really planning to finalize a divorce with his ex-wife while simultaneously preparing to marry her?
But… why would he want to marry her?
