Aidan’s POV I grabbed her wrist, stopping her from slipping away again, and tugged her into my office. She didn’t resist, but the way she yanked against my hold told me she wasn’t here willingly. Once inside, I shut the door with more force than I intended and locked it with a subtle click. No interruptions. Not this time. “You’re really not going to talk about it?” I asked, my voice low but sharp. The image of Piper standing there, smug and dry, while Avery gasped for air burned in my mind. “Do you have any idea how badly I wanted to rip her head off back there?” Avery jerked her wrist free and took a step back. Her chin lifted in defiance, but her voice stayed frustratingly calm. “And what exactly would that have solved, Aidan? Do you have proof? Evidence? Anything to accuse her with?
