Chapter 38

1333 Words

Chapter 41 Duncan needed information. He’d spent the morning talking to groggy-eyed and hung-over campers who were actually up after the campground’s all-nighter fish-boil. Nobody had heard anything. Big surprise. Thank God for drunken stupors. No cops had been around yet either. Maybe they hadn’t found the body. He arranged to have brunch with Laura Campbell. If anyone knew what was going on, she would. As he drove out of the campground, a police car drove in. Okay. So, unless someone had been caught in an alcoholic binge or a d**g raid was imminent, they’d found the body and were investigating. Duncan stopped a few hundred yards ahead as the police car turned toward the office. Wouldn’t hurt to find out what they wanted. On the other hand . . . He drove onto the highway into Nager.
