I sat in my office going over a few things when I heard a knock at my door . " Come in "I called out as the door opened . In walked Elise, she was dressed in Jeans and a sheer onsie, with tall boots . Her hair was curled neatly as it bounced slightly, as she walked up to my desk . I went ahead and hired her . She's been great so far even if it has only been two days . Normally she was dressed in the finest but comfortable still looked like money on her . " Hey Rose, got a sec ?" she asked taking a seat . I put down the papers I held and gave her my attention .

" So, Today you got a couple things going on . " she began crossing her legs as she slid her fingers across her iPad . " You finished your last head early but that leaves your 3:00 and Dorinda at 4 . " she explained going over my schedule . It was 2:50 and I've been working none stop today . I always put Dorinda last, knowing I would take my time with her . Not that I rushed through my clients heads but I missed Rinda and I knew we had a lot to catch up on . She called me this morning asking for a slot and I agreed .

Sighing, I leaned back to stretch as she continued . I was hungry like no other . " Don't forget dinner with Ms. Sharon tonight . " piped up Elise bringing my attention back to her . " Oh right," I palmed my face . I had already rescheduled twice, since I kept forgetting . Me and Mir was supposed to go out to dinner with Sharon and My mom . Things were better between us but not great . We thought it would be best with Sharon coming along since we were all family . Everything was so new and fresh, so we were determined to do it right this time . The first few times went well so we've made it into a thing . " Do I have time for lunch ? " I questioned her sitting up .

" Sorry, but no . " she told me shaking her head a little . " You still have to meet with Image about changing the sign . " she went on as I sighed . " You still have an appointment with Dr. Garmin , tomorrow though . " she mumbled scrunching her face up . " I thought that was yesterday . " I added thinking back . " Yeah, but you rescheduled, so you could squeeze in Ms. Darby, and before that so you could take off early for lunch . " fussed Elise looking at me . " You've really been dropping the ball here . " she said with a tone .

" I know ." I huffed out . This is why I hired her . With me moving, running the shop and making it my own , patching things up with my mom and spending time with Jamir, my mind has been everywhere . I didn't snap at Elise because she had a point . I was being very forgetful and I needed to get it together . " So doctor's appointment tomorrow .. " I stated with a nod . " and furniture shopping with Kailey after . " she added placing her iPad down . " Okae , I got it . " I said checking my gold Mk watch . I had on a cotton grey dress that clung to me and my floral heels . My hair was in it's natural state , curly as ever wit a peach hue from my new growth . Soon the peach color would take over but I still liked the blonde .

" I swear it's like you have pregnant brain or something . " laughed Elise peeking my interest . " When I was pregnant with Nakomi, I forgot everything" she giggled . I laughed with her, standing to go look for my 3:00 . We headed out front as our laughs died off . " I swear girl, I would have lost my head without my husband . " she spoke fondly stepping around me and going towards Charity . My new workers were out at lunch as Chy , my 3:00, strutted froward to greet me . She was a pretty girl , 18 with a nice smile . We cut her hair short last week and she just wanted some finger waves . She was short and slim wearing a baggy long legged romper . It was tight around the ankles but dipped low wit skinny straps and her back out . I lead her to my chair in deep though as I played in her hair .

"Wanna dye it and shake things up . " I asked as she shrugged . " You know I trust you Rose . " she answered me as I nodded gathering what I needed . I was gonna give her a vibrant orange . Dark but bright enough for the color to pop . I thought to myself as I worked . Pregnant ? I don't think so . I was pregnant before and I think I would know . I busied myself in my work but my mind kept moving .

Me and Jamir weren't moving fast but we were going heavy . I don't think we used protection once these past few days . I sighed out loud applying the mixture I made to her hair .

" You good hun . " Questioned Chy as Elise went to sit across from us .

" Yeah, just a lot on my mind . " I brushed her off . " This is a beauty shop . " butted in Elise looking over her nails . " If you can't express yourself here, where else can you ." she said as Charity nodded .

" Preach gurl . " sighed Charity as we all laughed . I continued my work but listened .

" Damn Charity . " spoke my client . " What you tryna express . " she pried as Charity's face got red . " Nothing . " she squeaked getting shy .

" How you hollering preach but don't wanna share . " teased Elise as she shook her head . " I think we were talking about Rose . " she said , putting the attention back on me . I shrugged, finished with applying the dye I leaned against my shelf . " I was thinking about the move and everything . " I confessed . I didn't talk much about my personal life at work . Elsie knew nothing of Jamir and I nor my mother or our connection to Ms. Sharon . However, I was feeling open at the moment . My head was running things over as the conclusion kept coming to my being pregnant . I missed my shot days, maybe weeks now and the rate me and Mir has been going at it . I wouldn't be surprised. My heart fluttered . Wether it was from fear or excitement , I had yet to know .

" Well how long have ya'll been together . " asked Elise as I looked to her . " A year and 4 months . " I answered as she smiled . " You good girl . Once you move in together you will see how it changes . " she said warmly .

" For the good or the bad " piped in Chy, rolling her eyes and crossing her arms . " Tyler get on my f*****g nerves girl but It's whatever . " She shrugged .

" At least he's coming home to me . " I nodded agreeing but not really . I wasn't worried about Mir stepping out on me . I was worried about us moving too fast . I know I loved him but if I was pregnant, how would he take it .

The girls continued to talk and gossip as I finished my client up . After washing out her dye I dried her hair slightly before moussing it down and forming the intricate waves .

" So Rose ?" coaxed Elise as I looked up from my work . " who's the lucky guy ? ". She questioned .

The door chimed as Dorinda walked in . Best friend was fine as hell dressed in all black as she switched over to me in her black red bottoms . Her jeans looked painted on, with slits down the front and her simple short sleeve lace up crop top . She must have washed her hair and blew it out, since it looked slightly straightened . She blew a kiss to Charity as she came to hug me . Charity smiled as Elise waved and Dorinda nodded in her direction . They haven't exactly spoken yet but Rinda and I have both been busy . I would give them both a proper introduction over drinks when time freed up .

" Hey Rosae' . " she singed as I laughed hugging her back . " Hey Chy " she spoke hitting the girl shoulder with her hip . " Hey girl . You next ? " said Chy standing up .

I lead her over to the dryer as Dorinda sat her purse in the chair following us over there . " Yes . I have plans later . " she gushed sticking her tongue out and running her fingers through her hair .

" Ouu, with who ? " I wondered as I got Chy situated . " ShaMilla gurl . She canceled on me before, so she has something planned for tonight . " she explained clearly excited . We walked over to my booth as she got seated and I placed her purse behind us . I kept my thoughts to myself . Dorinda was grown and if she wanted to run the city with her then she could .

" Okay ! " she clapped her hands together . " I'm thinking big sexy curls and volume with a middle part . " she explained using her hands being dramatic . I laughed .

" So you tryna bag someone tonight . " I said as she turned to wink at me . " Maybe " she giggled as I put my hands in her hair . I've been doing her hair for so long, it was like second nature to style her up . I gave her exactly what she wanted as she chatted on about her expectations for the night . Apparently ShaMilla was taking her to an exclusive event and told Dorinda to go all out with her outfit . I was happy they were getting along again and I hoped that it last . I noticed she didn't mention ShaMilla's name and I took it as her not wanting Elise in her business . I didn't have a problem with Rinda getting a new friend . I knew my place in her life . I was worried about whom that new friendship was with .

I paused on her hair as I went to check on Chy . She had headphones in dozing off as I tested the waves for wetness . " 30 more minutes . " I told her as she nodded reaching in her pockets . She passed me $175 and I gave her $30 back . " no charge for the color . " I told her seeing her raise her brow . " Thanks Rosalina . " she smiled as I walked back to Dorinda . Her and Elise were talking briefly, but from what I could tell, it wasn't nothing serious .

" So it's more like a date ? " questioned Elise . I raised my eyebrow over Rinda's head .

" I wouldn't call it that . " said Rinda with a tone . " Were feeling things out . " she explained . Elise laughed getting up to go towards the back .

" The last time I heard " were feeling things out " " she said over her shoulder . " was from a b***h trying to play straight . " she stated as I gasped looking over to my friend .

" The f**k was that about !?" I stressed as Dorinda rolled her eyes huffing . " Someone that don't know s**t about what the f**k she's talking about . " she snapped loudly enough for Elise to hear .

" Uhm okae . " I eased out going back to her hair . " she know Milla or something . " I questioned, not understanding where it went left and that comment on the end . " Is it a date ? " I asked, my voice going higher with my suspicion .

" No . " she gritted out before sighing . " All I said was me and my room mate were going out . I explained a little and she asked if it was my girlfriend . " she answered me . " look Rose I know how you feel about her and I get it . " She sympathized . " But I can't explain what this is but I'm more excited than worried . I trust ShaMilla and she doesn't scare me . I'm just drawn to it and I wanna know more . " she shrugged as I took in her words .

I finished her hair tapping her to stand . Chy waived on her way out as Charity walked with her . " I hear you best fran . " I cooed lightening the mood . She smiled warmly, embracing as I returned it .

" I love you girl . " I told her teasing her hair a little . " I just want you happy so have fun . " I said fondly , grabbing her purse and handing it over . I walked Rinda to the door . I never thought it was more than friendship between the two of them . Of course Mir told me Milla preferred girls, but Dorinda was straight as far as I knew . Here we go again with me not knowing my friend .

I shook off my thoughts away , turning around coming to face Elise, coming from out the back . She smiled at me holding up her iPad . " Thats two heads down and 1 more to go . " she cheered as I groaned . " After the meeting with Image and they leave, your done for the day . " she added with a grin .

" Fine but order a pizza or something . " I told her as she laughed but pulled out her phone .
