Rose
After talking with Natasha more, we were officially the buyers of the house. She would have the paperwork for us to sign in one week. Which was great being as that was the start of May, and Me and Jamir could start fresh.
We pulled into the garage, and he parked the car close to the elevator. I unbuckled my seat belt, just in time for him to open my door, and step back to give me space to get out. I smiled up at him exiting the car, thinking back to our moment in our new home.
"What you smiling for?" he asked, closing the door and lacing our fingers together as we made our way to the elevator. "You" I answered sighing.
"You just make me feel soo ..." I trailed off not finding the words. He chuckled pulling me close, while the doors closed and we ascended. "Feelings mutual." he spoke against my lips moving before I could deepen the brief contact. I made a face making him laugh harder.
Walking up to our home, Jamir unlocked the door with his keys letting us in.
"bajar niña ahora!(Girl get down now)" shouted Kailey as we entered. Priscilla was tumbling in the house again. She walked on her hands, across the high counter top. Flipping forward, she stuck her landing with a grin.
Kailey rolled her eyes, shaking her head at her daughter. "I told you not to practice in the house." She scolded an unfazed Scilla, as she came to hug me. I bent down to scoop her in my arms as she leaned over to kiss Jamir on his cheek.
"Hola" she beamed, as I put her back down. She was in regular clothes, a simple striped shirt with jeans. I assumed they were headed to her gymnastics class, since it was just about 3 already. Priscilla was growing up, now six and exploring different activities.
She was just about signed up for everything her Private School offered. Not to mention how smart she was becoming. We made sure not to get too deep in front of her, because at this point she didn't miss a thing.
"What did your mother tell you." Jamir chimed in as Priscilla pouted. "How can I get better if I don't practice. " she whined, as we came to sit in the living room . Jamir took the love seat pulling me into his lap as Kailey and Scilla sat on the couch . "There's a time and a place Priscilla, I don't wanna hear it." he stated firmly.
"Thanks Mir" said Kailey, as he nodded in response. "Sorry Mami" said Scilla sweetly, as she kissed her mom's cheek . "It's okae baby, just not in the house." softened Kailey. "We already know your the best little tumbler." she cooed tickling Scilla as she kicked away.
"go get your things and change for practice."said Kailey as Scilla hopped down bending back doing a walk over, graceful making her way to the back. We all laughed softly shaking our head at our little monster.
"So how did it go?" Kailey questioned us curious about our outing.
"There's one I fell in love with." I told her blushing. "We should get the papers in a week and after some furniture shopping." I slid in looking to Jamir. "I'm hoping to be moved in by the end of the month if not early June." I beamed sharing the good news.
Kailey returned my smile halfheartedly. "Oh." she replied dryly surprising me. "So soon, I thought you were just browsing for now." She admitted, standing up and gathering Priscilla's things that were scattered on the floor.
"Well yeah." I reasoned, not understanding her change of tone. "But we were always gonna choose." I stated shifting to look at her better.
"It's cool I guess." She said nonchalantly. "Well now you and Scilla can have the loft." piped in Jamir. I felt his phone vibrate as he tapped me to lift up. "You can go shopping with Rose to get some new things for YOUR place." he practically ordered responding to the text.
"Iight." she said, dryly heading towards the room. "Let's go Scilla." she called down the hall, as Scilla came cartwheeling pass her mother. She had on her leotard and soft shoes and a cute back pack.
Kailey placed what she collected in the pack taking it from Scilla but not harshly. "Lena, Can you put my hair up?" Priscilla asked me with a sly grin.
I smiled back with a nod as I got off Jamir and headed to the dinning table. My baby was a big girl now so we ditched the High Chair. Scilla pulled her throne like chair closer to me and sat on it. I laughed seeing two hair ties on her dainty wrist, already knowing I would say yes. I looked up as Kailey gave me a stiff look handing me a brush and Scilla's spray bottle for her hair. Natural products of course.
I quickly gave Priscilla a high pony, before deciding to twist it and wrap it around it's self, I took 3 pins out of my hair and pinned it in place. Teasing a few baby hairs, and leaving some short hairs free, I tapped her nose making her giggle. "Done." I said as she hugged me and hopped down.
"Okae, Mami lets go." she announced as if Kailey wasn't waiting on her. "oh Dios mío." said Kailey as she rolled her eyes. "Lets go little girl." she huffed, pushing her gently as Scilla laughed leading the way. "Bye." she threw over her shoulder, sounding dry again, taking her leave.
"what was that about? " I asked Jamir as he shrugged. I headed for the kitchen to get something to drink. "Whatever it is, she'll get over it." he opined as he got on the couch and stretched out, throwing his arm over his face. I opened the ice box, grabbing some juice and grabbed a glass. I took my drink in the living room, lounging across the love seat. I sighed.
I didn't want any issues with Kailey. Especially after what happened last year. Jamir peaked over at me. "why you all the way over there." he mumbled as I laughed." Boy bye." I waved him off. I was not about to mess with him.
"Don't you have to go to work?" I teased, as he sat up relaxing his tall frame. He pulled somethings out of his pocket. Some blunts and his sac to start rolling up. "Nawh, I'm on vacation" he chuckled as I rolled my eyes. "I don't think thats funny." I snapped at him sipping my drink annoyed.
I'm still coming to turns loving a killer, but saying things like that isn't making it any better. It made me feel like he had no remorse. How do you enjoy killing a person. "Chill." he breathed lighting his joint. "I was joking. Im the Boss so I can go whenever." he boasted puffing out a lot of smoke.
The smell of his w**d quickly took over the room. He puffed it twice before offering it to me, raising his brow m. I Looked at him for a minute and rolled my eyes, getting up and sitting down beside him m. I snatched the joint and pulled as he wrapped his arms around me chuckling. "You get on my nerves." I scoffed blowing smoke.
"Just a minute ago, you felt..." he trailed off squeezing me slightly, as I bust out laughing. I pulled again outing the joint. I laid back pulling him on top of me as he made sure we were comfortable. "Shut up." I purred holding smoke, kissing his lips and running my tongue across his bottom lip. Releasing the smoke as he opened enough.
He kissed me back hungrily as I let him take over and our tongues lazily tussled. "Take a shower with me." I moaned as he laughed, cuffing my a*s and sitting up with me on his lap. "I gotta go." he said grabbing my neck gently, tilting my head kissing and sliding his tongue over his kisses. His free hand kneading my bottom.
"Your the boss though." I whined as he chuckled against my neck and smacked my a*s. "That's right." he told me standing us up, totting me like I weighed nothing. I laughed as we made our way to the shower.
"Gurl y'all f**k like bunnies!" cackled Dorinda as we talked on the phone. Jamir gave me exactly what I wanted in the shower. I hated to see him go. I laid across our bed playing in my hair. I was still in my sheer robe gabbing on the phone with my best friend.
"I know .." I stressed palming my face.
"Good d**k will do that to you." she laughed through the phone. "That's what happens when you meet a good nigga with bomb dick." spoke Rinda. "its just gonna get worse when y'all move in together. You better get that birth control that they put in your arm. M" Dorinda lectured me. "Im not getting that shit." I argued.
"So my p***y can fall out later no thank you." I went on as she bust out laughing. "Im still on the shot, I just gotta keep up with it." I explained, making a note to check for my next appointment. I had soo much going on, but I always had time for my best b***h. "So wassup with you?" I asked getting up going to my closet.
"We just started looking and we found a house m. Whats the hold up?" I pressed her. Dorinda has been staying with ShaMilla. I guess their roommates, but with the money Dorinda has been pulling in from the club, I knew she chose to be there.
"Not this again Rose!" she stressed all extra. "Im just saying you over there living with a psycho but whatever." I told her. "You are doing the most, when that very psycho saved our asses." she snapped.
"Meanor has been a real help and its easy this way. Im just chilling damn." she explained, as I pulled out my black distressed jeans and long sleeve crop top.
I put my phone on speaker to rub coco butter on. "Calm down, you know I didn't mean nothing by it." I reasoned. I wasn't trying to push how I felt about Milla onto her. I just wanted her to be safe around a woman like that . She sighed deeply.
"I know Rose, I'm sorry for barking at you, but it's stressful without your commentary." she confessed.
"Milla just disappears and pops back up, at all times of night. I don't know what to think." she gushed, sounding dreary. I just nodded my head getting dressed even though I couldn't see her.
"Well that's her MO and you knew what, you were dealing with living there. Just hope she don't involve you in her mess." I told her, taking the phone in the bathroom.
"Riiigggghhhhhttt." she dragged out." I doubt she out slaughtering children Rose." she stated coldly, as I rolled my eyes. "So what time is your interviews?" asked Rinda changing the subject, as I washed my face.
I decided not to wear any make up. Just mascara and eyeliner. My hair got wet in the shower so it was wavy, but decent. I just let it sway past my shoulder blades keeping it simple.
"Im bouta head out now." I told her, as I added lipstick and grabbed my red Chanel wedges. "It's like 4:30 now, but I told the girls 5:30." I explained as I gathered what I needed. I had a few interviews for an assistant since the things at the shop were kinda hectic.
After hiring two new girls and the paperwork of switching everything in my name, I decided I needed help. I could manage but I missed my free time as well. Ms. Sharon agreed since thats why she hired me in the first place. Even though I owned the business , I still valued her opinion, and I decided to free my hands a little with some help.
"Well, Don't let me hold you up." said Dorinda, as I grabbed my matching Chanel clutch and slide it on my wrist. "Love You Rinda." I cooed into the phone as I locked up after myself. "Love You too Rose." she replied sweetly as we hung up and I made my way to the shop.
Hopping off the elevator, I unlocked the doors hopping in and buckling up, before pulling off. If I wrap up my interviews early, I might even pull up on Jamir at work. I smiled thinking of him, but frowned seeing my gas light come on. We drove Jamir's car earlier so I guess my baby needed a snack. I pulled up to a Bp not too far from the shop.
It was 4:50 and I pulled in going for pump 3, when a sleek red Mercedes, swooped in before me taking my pump. I sucked my teeth and laid my hand on the horn. The b***h got out and flipped me off before walking into the store quickly. Her dirty a*s, had on sneaker wedges that were creme and damn sho not white. With the tightest high waisted shorts I've ever seen with a onesie that had her back out.
Pulling into the next pump, I rolled my eyes getting out to use my card and pump my gas. Stupid hoe, came back out looking worse from the front with a short cut that looked like a helmet to me. I turned my face and mind my own business.
The woman got in and pulled off without a word and didn't even use the pump. I hung the pump up and screwed my top back on shaking my head. "Let me go get this over with." I mumbled not feeling today.
I made good time, getting here just at 5. I took my usual spot and got out locking my doors. The door chimed as I entered, seeing 2 woman seated in our regular sitting area and 3 in the salon chairs. I walked over to Charity at her desk, just as she looked up to smile.
"Hola Rosalina" she greeted me happily. Charity was always a joy to see. I hugged her as she stood to meet me, returning her smile "Hey hun." I responded, stepping back but still close, eyeing the woman as they pretended not to notice me. Except for a few that gave me warm smiles.
"So we have Sierra over here ..." began Charity, getting right to the point. I held up my hand to stop her and walked over to My salon chair. I tapped the woman on the shoulder as The helmet b***h looked up to me. Recognizing me she rolled her eyes.
"Glad you know." I taunted, pointing to the door. "Bye." I snapped as she moved slowly and exited. I felt the tension in the room now and I smiled cause I wasn't playing. I tapped the next girl, she had a cute outfit, but I could see her tracks. I shook my head and pointed to the door.
She slouched but gathered her things and left. The next, was a pretty brown skin woman with dark natural hair, silk pressed into a swoop ponytail. There was a little sparkle in her eye. Mama was dressed for the interview honey, with a plum pencil skirt that stopped to her knee, with a slight slit.
Her long legs were crossed by the ankles with the hottest black Jimmies that pointed at the toe. Her blazer was plum to match her skirt, but her top dipped low but professional, in a tank top style. She wore a few rings and a diamond belt that wrapped her waist. She smiled politely at me as I turned my back to her and went towards the other ladies.
One got up and left before I did anything as Charity hid her laughs with a cough.
"Now." I began smiling warmly. "Are you Sierra? " I questioned as The woman laughed. She was older than me and slightly chubby. She wore black slacks and black flats with a slightly ruffled yellow short sleeve button up.
Her hair was in a bun, pulled to the back and she was latino. "No . mi nombre es Carmella." She said with a smile. I laughed telling her to follow me in Spanish.
"And your name?" I asked walking past the Pretty woman. "Elise Fenton but call me Elise." She spoke up, flashing her pearly whites. I nodded kindly and continued leading Carmella to my office. Once inside we got down to business.
Everything was perfect with Carmella, except she still didn't have a green card. That wasn't a problem for me, but with how things were progressing with the government, I knew she might not be someone long term. I sighed since I would love to work with someone that could speak my language.
I put a pin on Carmella as I lead her out and we said our goodbyes. Elise waited patiently as her an Charity giggled quietly to themselves. It was now 6:45 and I was on a roll. "Ready?" I asked, interrupting. "Yes of course." she beamed standing to hug Charity.
Elise winked, telling her wish me luck in Spanish. I guess she wanted me to know she spoke it as well. I smiled to myself leading her into the office.
I offered her a seat in front of me as I went through her resume. Elise closed the door and sat gracefully in her chair. She moved so smooth and I shuddered thinking it was familiar, but I was positive I didn't know her.
"So Ms. Fenton."
"Elise." she interrupted politely. I smiled and she smiled back. "What brings you here?" I asked slouching in my chair a little and placing her resume down.
"Why would you want to work under someone?" I questioned, since she did interest me a little.
Elise chuckled slightly. She had a crisp demeanor about her self. Not perfect, but as close as she could get. "I'm a stay at home Mom." she began speaking clear and looking in my eyes. She looked comfortable like she wasn't in an interview. More like she was at her first day of work.
"My daughter is six and a handful, but I manage that well." she smiled sliding her pony tail to her back. "I can relate." I giggled as her eyes brightened. "You have a kid." she asked eagerly. "Not exactly but It feels like it. She is six also." I told her feeling comfortable.
I was feeling her vibe. She was actually older than me by a year, but she had a clean and relaxed presence. "Oh, So you do understand." she praised as I nodded. "I need things to do in the mean time of being a mother." she sighed opening up. "I'm gonna be real with you." she leveled.
"As you can see I have excellent credibility, so I could pursue something else but I want a quiet SIMPLE life." she went on.
"My husband runs a school for young adults and my daughter attends a strict private school so shes gone often." she sighed. "I'm good at this type of work and I wanna get into it. If I can help free some of your burdens to aid you in being successful then thats a bonus." she said with a shrug.
I nodded breaking eye contact thinking. I was liking Elise a lot and that was a good thing. My assistant will be a constant in my life and we would need to mesh well for this to work. "Okae, and what is your availability?" I added as she turned her hands palm up and shrugged.
"Open. I'm free whenever. I'm on your time Rose. You tell me what I need to do and I'll get it done." she summed up. "I'm focused, organized, prompt and respectful and you seem like a really cool person." she beamed as I smirked gesturing for her to continue.
"I feel like this is a fit for me, so I'm ready when you are." she finished as I nodded clapping softly leaning up. Elise laughed but pretended to bow and gave me her attention.
"I just need to think on it. I might have a few more interviews just to see what's out there or maybe take on an apprentice." I explained as she nodded. "But, you do give me a good vibe and with this resume girl, why are you not owning a business or something. Plus your young like what!" I praised her as she waved me off.
"I just had some great opportunities, but once I met my husband and had my daughter, I lost that drive you know." she shrugged." Well, we will be in touch." I said extending my hand.
"Girl." she sucked her teeth standing to hug me as I followed. "Let me walk you out." I told her coming from around the desk. I think I will hire her, but I'll wait on it, just to make sure.
We met Charity up front as she stood from her desk with her thumbs up smiling. "See you later Elise!" spoke Charity as I laughed. Elise waved and left as Charity came over to me.
"Well." she pressed locking our elbows. "She okae." I brushed her off as she burst out laughing. "I knew you would like her. I lived." Charity went on. I laughed going to grab my things.
"No favoritism Charity." I poked at her and she stuck her tongue out. "Lock up for me. I'm gonna pop in on Jamir at work." I asked Charity. "Of course." she agreed walking me to the door.
"muchas gracias." I said kissing her cheek and side hugging her on my way out of the door.
"De Nada !" She shouted behind me.
