Those first few months at the Alpha's house proved to be a challenge for me. James has pushed me down, pulled my hair, and left several creatures in my bed. He even put mud in my shoe. That was disgusting. Just thinking about how the mud squished in between my toes gave me the chills. It was unpleasantly cold. James made life difficult for me, but I started to view this as a challenge. I've been told that I'm a very intelligent 4 year old. 5 now - today is my birthday. I know he has something planned, but I don't know what. I've tried to spy on him, but he's been really good at hiding. I've looked in all the usual spots he would hide something to scare me, but so far I haven't found anything suspicious. Keeping my eyes open, I reflect on my own plans. I smile to myself as I head down to eat. Walking quietly, I peek around the corner before going in. James slips something into the glass of milk Cook left. Alpha and Luna have already eaten and left to go about their business. He sits back down, and I choose that moment to walk into the breakfast nook. He's smirking at me, but I ignore this, and instead open up the refrigerator to grab the pitcher of orange juice Cook left. I pour a glass and push it towards James "Here you go." He looked at it suspiciously and frowned. When he looks at me, I wink. He scowls at me and pushes the glass away. "Oh, you're not thirsty?" I take the glass and with a few gulps, finish the juice. Smiling at James, I sit down and scoot my chair closer to the table and my plate. Cook made waffles this morning and I sigh appreciatively as I fix a plate. I keep an eye on James as I put peanut butter and maple syrup on my waffle. He seems to be preoccupied with his own plate, but I know he's waiting for me to take a drink of milk. I discreetly study him. I think that one day maybe we'll be friends, but he isn't ready yet. He sees me as a threat to his cozy little family. I'm not going to let him get away with bullying me, and we will see how he likes it when he gets a dose of retaliation. The trick with the orange juice was just the start of it. He was suspicious now, but he will soon let his guard down. He goes to the refrigerator and gets some orange juice. He notices me smirking at him, and he hesitates, putting the juice back. While he has his back turned, I quickly exchange milk glasses with him. I'm pretty sure it's his goldfish that I saw him dump in my glass earlier. James sits back down, and grabs his glass of milk. He tried to discreetly look at my own glass but I saw him do it. He proceeds to take a huge gulp, which ends with him spluttering and coughing. "Oh my! Are you okay?" I stand up, trying not to laugh. I walk over to pat him on the back, but he pushes my hand away. He spits out Sam, the goldfish and looks at me angrily. At this point, I'm unable to hold back my laughter. James angrily pushes himself away from the table, and stomps out of the room. After carefully inspecting my glass, I finish it in two gulps. Phase one is complete, and I smile to myself as I finish my waffle. I take my dishes to the sink and rinse them off before putting them in the dishwasher and then skip off to my room. glass of milk and finishes in in two gulps. She has some more planning to do, and a birthday party to get dressed for. Cook comes out of the pantry laughing. He witness the scene and thought James got what he deserved. Chuckling to himself, he sets about cleaning up breakfast so that he can get started on Ember's cake. He had a feeling James was up to something, and he was glad Ember didn't let him get away with anything. I consider my next move as I wash up. There are many ways to get back at him, but I really need to figure a way to gain his respect AND stop the bullying. After watching him for a few days, I noticed he would sneak out to ride his bike on the old BMX track. He would practice, and with each fall or mistake he was even more determined. I pondered this as I watched. Knowing what I needed to do, I set my mind and asked Luna for my own bike. I swore her to secrecy and when James was at school, I practiced. I couldn't wait to surprise him when we both entered into the same race. I used Luna's laptop to study different techniques, and I knew I would be ready for the amateur race. Luna left my party dress, along with shoes and a ribbon on the bed. I had lost track of time, and needed to hurry up and get ready for my party. I had been so preoccupied with my plan that I let my guard down for a moment. Dancing down the steps that led into the kitchen, I felt my head jerk back. James had been hiding in the little alcove waiting for me, and as I passed, he grabbed my hair and yanked. I fell backwards with a cry, and watched James chuckle as he went on ahead. I stood up and brushed myself off, refusing to cry. There was a little bathroom at the foot of the steps and I made my way over. My hair was a mess, and the ribbon hung off the back of my curls. Angrily pulling the ribbon out, I vowed he wouldn't get away with this. I combed my hair and readjusted the ribbon. Everything else seemed to be in place, and I opened the bathroom door. There was no sign of the jerk, and I continued into the kitchen. I smiled sweetly to James as he watched me walk by. He scowled and then pretended to ignore me, reaching for one of the cupcakes Cook had placed on the table. As I walked by, he brought the delicious concoction to his mouth. In a sweep of my hand, I forced his hand up; smashing the cupcake into his face. Laughing, I made my exit and joined the party.
