Rey's lungs burnt as she tore through the woods, branches clawing at her arms and snow crunching beneath her boots. Her chest heaved, her throat was raw, but she didn't stop until she spotted a small figure huddled by the cliff's edge.
"Beau!"
Her voice cracked with relief as she stumbled forward. He stood at the mouth of a cave, the roots of a massive oak twisting down over its entrance like a skeletal hand. His face was streaked with tears, but when his eyes met hers, they lit with something fierce and unbreakable.
"Rey!"
"I thought... I thought I'd never see you again," he sobbed, rushing into her arms.
Rey dropped to her knees, cupping his face, drying his tears with trembling thumbs. "Didn't I tell you?" She whispered, her voice low but sure. "I'd come find you."
