The sound of the twig snapping still echoed in her ears when a massive shadow peeled itself from the darkness. Rey's breath seized as her gaze landed on the beast. A colossal wolf emerged into the sliver of moonlight filtering through the trees. Its coat was a stormy gray, darker than steel and mottled with silver that shimmered under the pale glow. Power rippled through the muscles beneath his fur with every step, its sheer size dwarfing anything she had ever imagined. A guttural growl rumbled low from his snout, vibrating through the earth beneath her boots.
